Let me do this for you. You are right about one thing, performance is related to displacement. Lets figure out what that really is. The cone of your 4x10" is going to be roughly 3.5 x 9.5", that's 165 sq cm. Let assume they have 10 mm of Xmax (and I'm being very generous). That gives you a driver displacement of 1650 cc. You average 12" has about 490 sq cm of cone area and 15 mm of Xmax, that's a driver displacement of 7350 cc. 7350 / 1650 = 4.4. So you are going to need at least 4 of those things to get even close to a single 12". the metric system is a tool of the devil- and this thread is full to the brim with win...
Copper07 Posted May 19, 2015 Author Report Posted May 19, 2015 Yes 10 mm is very generous, it looks like they get around 5-6, but im not comparing to a 12 with 15mm of flex, im comparing to a 12 with similar amounta of xmax. But this is all besides the point, im not looking for a system of 5 12s, otherwise i would have bought 5 12s lol. Id be happy if these sounded even remotely close to two 12s. Im just looking for advise o the enclosure guys. I dunno but he got 99 problems reading aint the only one. It's your stuff and your money do whatever you want with it. A Large sealed enclosure was the general consensus in case you missed it. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
