Building your own RCA cables

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I have so much audio video RCA in my vehicles alone it has made me decide to start making my own. I wanted to buy a huge roll of two channel RCA cable then buy ends in bulk and save me money than buying remade cables that are always too long or too short.

A few quick searches show others doing this, but I'm posting on here to have you guys give me recommend on which to buy hopefully with a few options to choose from. I'd like to order on eBay if there's wire and parts available without spending a grip. Could you guys help me out?

I'm not sure what exactly henis using but I'd look into SounDrive RCAs he's making quality ones any length u need. It takes skill to properly ground and solder coax cable for a quality RCA. Sorry I can't help on where to get stuff from but that's where I'd look.

Building your own is a great way to save some money and learn some things about the signals in your system.

#1 There are different types of signals that you need the correct cables for. In order to give you the cleanest signals you can get.

Based on that, you can buy bulk COAX or twisted pair wire.

I've tried both versions.

Soldered connections are the best as the push-on or crimp-on ends tend to fall off easily.

With all my experience buying various cables and building my own......my run from the head unit (iPadMini) to my trunk is optical (digital). :D

Good luck :good:

snap-n-seal connectors are crimp on your that will never come off. The old hex style exterior crimp I agree are crap. The new ones are actually compression fittings, so I in fact used the wrong term
