Today's Amp Test Tuesday "Pre Guess" is going to be interesting! As you know, i recently tested 2 500 watt amplifiers i purchased from the flea market. While my intentions were to get CHEAP flea market amps and test them, my conscience had me buying "better than" the typical bootleg crap. I ended up with (as you might know) a Gravity amp and a Phoenix Gold amp. Both rated 500watts RMS. I have seen enough "Gravity" product break in the past to know it might be low to medium quality and from the flea market, it might be even worse than that. The PG amp, you never know, it could be hollow inside and a total bootleg. Turns out they both did well! Anyhow, i will get more actual "crapola" and test it soon!

Ok so there is more to my post, hear me out. I was planning to upgrade my amp test bench due to the fact i rarely use the 12v bank and never use the 16v bank. By the time you are using a 16v battery, you are using a large amplifier and i just don't have enough at this time to do that. So it is a waste. I primarily used my set of 3 XS Power D1400 14v batteries since it is the closest i can mimick a possible running vehicle. Is it perfect? NO. My tests are subjective and what you see on the screen is what you get. There is voltage drop. I charge the bank with a 15a XS Power HF1215 Intellicharger which tops them off in between runs. So with the 12v bank gone, the 16v bank gone, it left me with room to drop 7 more D1400's in place for a total of 10! With a 60a XS Power Charger/power supply, my bench should be more stout and able to test larger amps. Most of you know i already did this and the bench is all upgraded, ready to go!

That being said, i recorded this video BEFORE i made the changes. I wanted it to be a very fair comparison between the last 2 500 Watt specimens and the RF T500.2. I recorded the outcome right before i pulled the test bench apart and upgraded it.

Example:

Certified Mode (stops test at 1% Distortion) - XXX watts RMS

Uncertified Mode (stops test at Clipping) - XXX watts RMS

Dynamic RMS Mode (stops test at clipping) - XXX watts RMS

Add up all three of these, Post the total (X,XXX Watts RMS) (all three combined) and wait till Tuesday!

Heres how part 2 goes.

Guess the combined total 2 ohm Rating (all 3 modes) add your total guess to your 1 ohm guess. Now you have 2 numbers. Add them together for ONE LARGE number and post that!

Example:

Certified Mode (stops test at 1% Distortion) - XXX watts RMS

Uncertified Mode (stops test at Clipping) - XXX watts RMS

Dynamic RMS Mode (stops test at clipping) - XXX watts RMS

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF A TYPICAL/CORRECT WAY TO POST YOUR GUESS. PAY ATTENTION HERE.

My 1ohm guess is:

1,500 watts (remember it is all three modes combined) <<<<THIS GUESS BY ITSELF QUALIFIES FOR $100

My 2 ohm guess is:

900 Watts (all three modes) total guess

1,500w + 900w = 2,400 watts <<<This LARGER number is the qualifiying number for $500 in RF gear!

If you get BOTH NUMBERS you will get ALL THE $$!

IF more than one person guesses the same numbers, the person who posted FIRST will be the winner so pay attention people!

NOTE: GUESS NUMBER 2 DOES NOT HAVE TO BE EXACT!

For instance, if both your numbers are not right in themselves but they ADD UP to the total WINNING NUMBER, i will still give you the prize!

In other words the number of the 2ohm rating doesn't mean anything that is just the number you will add to the 1ohm rating to get your final number.

by the way.....i ran this amp in my Tahoe for about 5 years iirc....never gave me a problem. But could it do 500w RMS? hmmmm not a lot of caps showing on that board but you never know. Share this post everywhere guys!! it makes me wanna do big prizes like this !!!

wait, im a little confused. Are you gonna run it stereo 1ohm or bridged 1ohm? since its a two channel. Just curious cause usually you dont run two channel amps at 1ohm bridged when its your own stuff.

1 ohm mode = 1864 watts

2 ohm mode = 1106 watts

Total watts = 2970

Readjusted for both channels, not just one.

yes, bridged. Pay no attention to the fine details. It is 2ohms bridged and 4 ohms bridged aka 1 and 2 ohms. It's all explained in the video as well.
