Belt pulleys, belt not tight enough for my liking

Recommended Posts

My dual Alt bracket belt wrap was built based on the standard AD244 Alt pulltey

I am currently running an AD244 and a Mechman 370 with the small pulley. Right now the tensioner is almost at it's limit.

Sorry about the crude visio drawings

How the bracket was designed

How I am set up

I am not a math wizard.

My plan is to replace pulley 2 (70mm) with a 80mm pulley to make up for the difference of the small pulley on the mechman Alt.

Will that work?

Why not just get a stock size pulley if that's what it was made for

How much will a stock size pulley on the Mechman 370 affect its idle output? The pulley on the 370 is how it comes.

And pulley 2 which came with the bracket 70mm. The stock pulley in that spot before bracket is 90mm

Bigger idler pulleys should help you out for sure.

I'd change the one on the tensioner first.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

I've thought about the tensioner pulley also. Try figure out the best size and which pulley first. So im looking for recommendations or someone who math the difference using the mechman pulley vs the AD244 pulley.

I wouldn't change the Mechman pulley. You want to keep running that exact same belt (size)? I vote change the pulley you're talking about too

I wouldn't do that, you'll kill your idle output big time.
