Theres a thread on here somewhere where someone did the amp test. It preformed as well but Im not sure about reliability due to I have never owned one. I did own a SQ2200 and loved it.

Caaaan you fit a ported box?

That'll gain you a significant amount of loud if it fits.

Will be a tight squeeze i guess, but that space looks decent.

I would do box first then add power as needed :)

Four 2 ohm Dual Voice Coil (DVC) Speakers

(series/parallel) = 1 ohm load
Voice coils wired in series, speakers wired in parallel
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 1 ohm mono

Hifonics BRZ2100.1D or BE2100.1D will probably be one of your best budget friendly amps... I would avoid anything other than the BE and BRZ amps and these are getting really hard to find http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_23924_Hifonics_BRZ21001D.aspx

I bought the BE1700.1D because of steves amp test and it did rated... so you should be able to put down more than 500rms to each sub using the BE2100.1D little under rated so dont clip the shit out of it... lol... the BE2400.1D would be a better choice but I cant find one.... everyone bought them all already.... I looked back to see if shipping was going to kill your budget but I see you are also in MI so you are good

yeah that's an option, though there really isnt much more space as theres a cargo cover that snaps in the two black things on either side, the subs are a couple inches below that when in place. and i'd like to retain that so as to not advertise in parking lots. plus i want to replace the amps because one goes into thermal after only a few minutes of high volume (i have 5 fans in that space to compensate). the bd1000 never once went into thermal in the same space so i think its just that amp being old.

do you think the BRX2416.1D would be a good equivalent? reliable? better than the aforementioned american bass?
