bigaudiofanatic Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Hello all, let me start by giving some background to my experience as well as my system. Been doing car audio systems for about 12 years now. Everything from simple setups to bigger builds. About 4 years ago i started out using sound processors first up was the MS8. Fallowed by the Helix DSP, Mosconi 6to8. Mosconi never got more than a few hours to toy with. My system composes of Focal KRX2's, audison LRx 4.1k, Audison LRx 1.1k, Focal K2 11 inch sub (possibly upgrading to 2 Image dynamics Q's or JL W3 10's. A RF 3sixty.3 was given to me so i'd like to use that as my main processor now. Only problem is there is a LOT more settings to choose from in here than I have been accustom too. I purchased TrueRTA, as well as the Dayton calibration mic to help along with the setup. Could anyone give me some helpful hints, tips on setting up and calibration with the 3sixty? Thank you for your time.

White Lightning Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 Why are you blowing through processors ?? Sounds to me like you need to concentrate more on install rather than processing ... Not blowing through processors, those are the ones I have installed in other peoples cars. The MS8 is the one I currently have but looking for more control.
meade916 Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 Go back to the helix why? The 360.3 is the shit. It might be a little more complicated then the others but once you understand what you are doing it's pretty easy. I say don't go back to the Helix. As for a helpful tip, download the software and play with it in "demo mode" to get an understanding of how it works. Play with it like that for a while before you take the plunge. This way when it is installed you are already ready to go and not just trying to figure it out at that very moment. If you have experience with all those other units you shouldn't have much problem figuring this out. If it worked like it was supposed to for everyone it would be unbeatable. Multiple people have had problems with it. Specifically problems with the ethernet cable and the remote knobs

Specifically problems with the ethernet cable and the remote knobs who is "multiple people"? a few people here? Much like the 3sixty.2, when it first came out, there was some early units with problems. Seems like they took care of it by now. I haven't seen any problems in a few years. 99% of the issues are probably user error anyway. I bet i currently own more of these in my personal rides (actually own AND use daily) than anyone on this forum and probably all the other forums too. I have had pretty good luck with mine. One of the very first that came out is still in my Lexus. Things can and do go wrong with all electronics. When there is problems, some people try to figure it out, maybe contact with the manufacturer and get to the bottom of it. Some people are chronic complainers. You probably never hear about the thousands of units that are amazing and work great. But when someone bitches about something on the internet and doesn't even take the time to call the manufacturer or dealer to fix it, they are just complainers to me. Half the time people buy shit non-authorized from Ebay or something and still have the nerve to complain about any problems (manufacturer or user error) that they may have. I can tell you right now if someone bought a RF product from an Authorized dealer, they would be good to go, even if there was an issue. meade916 Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 i remember someone on this board who was furious about the 3sixty.3 "not working right" and "sounds like crap"....basically not happy at all. He was ready to give up. He had a big complicated system (no dummy, smart guy) but had no experience with the unit at all. I gave him some basic settings and some good basic x-over points to start with. He did it and was happy all the sudden. With no changes to the eq (still flat), it sounded great. Problem solved. It wasn't the RF unit after all. (Shocker) lol Some people, no matter how much time you have instaling, don't understand this stuff. I am still amazed how many people (who have legit experience) have no idea what a gain does and how to set it properly. That's beside the point though and a whole nother story. Are some 3sixty's bad out of the box? probably. Electronics do that. It can happen. But if you bought from an authorized dealer it is nothing a quick phone call couldn't take care of. _paralyzed_ Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 I too question whether or not the "problems" are from the unit or installer error. I just figured that was kyle's reason for saying to go back to the helix. And yep, "multiple people" was referring to a few people here.

I'll have to second this. I get guys in the shop all the time (customers and installers from local shops) with the "i've been doing installs" or the "i know what I'm doing" attitude telling me how X product is horrible or how something is junk. I try to help those that really deserve the help but there are people out there that nothing will help. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know
