because 6 would be 12.6 v and 7 is 14.7 volts

6 would be 15v 7 is 17.5v, those are max charge voltages

EDIT: Not in a JP kind of way.

I thought I was going to die from all the jizz filling my ears.

i thought they were 2.1v each

black maxwells are 2.5v and i think 2500f, the blues are 2.7v and 3000f

why banks of 7 on the caps?

Extra voltage capacity.

but less capacitance, id be curious as to the voltage drop with just 6 cells per bank

Yep, its a trade-off. BigD had a post where he stated he wanted to test amps up at 17V, so the extra cap was needed.

I suppose he's fine with it as-is, if he's not even dropping a volt.

We shall see....

I must have missed that part, either way its nice to see more and more people using supercaps

awesome! caps for the win. Thats the same way they act in the car on a burp. so much power drawn and only drop a volt or two. i love caps.

The guy I got the Maxwell caps from had a couple more, so I picked them up. Going to try 5 banks of 6 caps and charge to ~14.8V. Will be 2166F total vs. my current 1485F. I didn't really need to series 7 of them, just wanted the extra voltage if needed. I don't think I do, so 6 caps per bank will be my future setup.
