LoudPackRacing Posted December 8, 2015 Author Report Posted December 8, 2015 I have an 2003 civic coupe and am about to redo my entire car. The only thing that will stay the same is my pioneer double din. My question is what exactly do I need to have a sound quality car? I have a Rockford 360.3 and kicker amps and a 15" Fi SSD on the way.You are starting out with the wrong equipment. Not counting the headunit.Kicker ?? What amplifiers ?? We may can work with this ... Since I was planning on starting fresh what would you recommend

bcbrassard Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Well keep it going. Give us some more words of wisdom. I will listen. Thank you sir. I'm always glad to help out where I can ... No... Thank you for sharing you knowledge. It has helped me big time. The wife's Malibu sounds great. Just wonder what i would gain with 4" comps in the A-Pillars I was Looking at the 100A1 Focal 4" comp set for there. Then use the T3 6.5" as midbass in the doors after prepping them some more. HMMM...

aculous Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 -Alpine 9887 H/U or a head unit that has a ton of options, active crossover points (multiple), time alignment, EQ, at least three RCA connections and preferably if you can get it a optical connection. -A 3-way component set would be nice a 2-way would work just fine though. Hertz is a good start, Blues Car Audio, PPI has a nice yellow coned 3-way set thats affordable that a lot of people like. Theres a bunch of options. Look around as much as you can and read the SQ section here theres a lot of talk about front stage options. -Processor: You need something that will help you tune the system for the best SQ. Each car is different so the ability to tune it is going to come down to two things, either A) you have a headunit that can do the features you need or you run a processor like the 360.3 or the better option may be the Helix processor or the C-DSP 6x8 from MiniDSP that I just saw yesterday. You will need a measurement mic to adequately utilize them IMHO but thats getting a little deep for you right now I would bet. -Amps: IMHO Class-AB power is better, theres a lot of info on why. But bottom line a amp that can power out more then the max power rating for your speakers at the lowest distortion is a good place to start. Companies like Linear Power, Zuki, Audison, Zapco, Ground Zero, Rockford Fosgate are some ones to look for. -Sub- Quality of the sub is more important then whether its made for SQ or SPL. A strong motor is a strong motor. I personally like smaller subs, 8-12" but as long as its a good quality sub backed by a good amp it will be able to play SQ and SPL, the difference I see is longevity. At really high SPL levels some subs will survive and some won't, the quality of parts and how beefy they is the big difference. I have seen that heavy duty parts will effect their sonic characteristics, different tools for different jobs. -Sound deadening: For every dollar you spend on your setup if you don't have a decent sound deadening approach SQ will suffer and it will not sound the way you want it to. If you are SQ focused everyone on this thread, literally I just looked at who all responded again, is a good reasource. Try and start out small and work your way up. Also farming out some of the fab work may be a good idea depending on how much time and ability you have.
