jessdabest77 Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 The car is a 1991 Acura Integra hatchback and I have installed a Singer 270 amp alternator and with the car on I get 12.02 volts and withe car of I get 13.04 volts. Why is that and I have tested the battery and alternator and both are good, any answer's?
Lakeshow94 Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 Could be a few different issues. Belt slip due to too big of a belt. Belt slit due to not enough tension on an accurate belt. Low idle. Are you seeing those low numbers at all times or just idle? Do you hear a squeak from the belt? Do you see any residue coming off the belt? 1999 Lexus GS 300 Pioneer DEH-80PRS Singer 240 Amp (Will be installed later) Northstar Group 31 & 24 Sundown SCV-4000 Rockford T400-4 2 12" CT Sound Meso CT Sounds 6.5 Meso Components CT Sounds Tropo 6.5
Lakeshow94 Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 With the car off you are measuring the voltage of your battery itself, with the car on you are measuring alternator output voltage 1999 Lexus GS 300 Pioneer DEH-80PRS Singer 240 Amp (Will be installed later) Northstar Group 31 & 24 Sundown SCV-4000 Rockford T400-4 2 12" CT Sound Meso CT Sounds 6.5 Meso Components CT Sounds Tropo 6.5
reedal Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 Do you have any warning lights on? (Service engine, battery, etc?) If you're sitting at 12 with the car on, your alt isn't on. How are you measuring this voltage? jessdabest77 Posted December 9, 2015 Author Report Posted December 9, 2015 Ok,with the car of at the battery I get 12.8 volts, and with the car on at the battery I get 12.02 volts. The belt is tight,no rip's or squeks, and no service lights on in the car. I have heard in these cars you have to cut the alternator wire from the ECU,but don't know which wire and if that's even true.
Bump4life Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 the alternator is off or not working.\ the load of the car running is bringing the voltage down. if you rev up does voltage change at all? Maybe someone with the same vehicle will chime in. Email singer as well. I had an issue with my 98 Camry and he explained/fixed my issue. If its a common issue and not a different issue singer will probably know what's wrong. 1999 Lexus GS 300 Pioneer DEH-80PRS Singer 240 Amp (Will be installed later) Northstar Group 31 & 24 Sundown SCV-4000 Rockford T400-4 2 12" CT Sound Meso CT Sounds 6.5 Meso Components CT Sounds Tropo 6.5

Rich Schenk Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 I would double check your install to make sure all your wires our hooked up to alternator.
