Q-Forms Kick Panel Enclosures...Anyone use these anymore?

Hey folks,

Back in 2003 I had a set of the Q-Forms kick panel enclosures. Seemed to be a good thing at the time, but times change. I am in the process of restoring my old car and have a three way front stage to put in. I really do not have available panel space to mount the woofers without going custom, and I am not hacking up my door panels. If I reuse the Q-Forms, this alleviates my mounting location issues.

So the question remains, are the Q-Form kick panel enclosures a good idea or not?

Thanks!

If you use them for low frequency you'll want to deaden and reinforce them a bit. Else they work fine if they're available for your vehicle

they still work and the principle is still the same. Trying to get equal pathlengths to the ears. If you have a set for your car, I would say use them. What seems to be cool now if a pillar speakers but you also see way more time alignment used. Back when q forms were being used alot, there was a lot less processing

I used a pair in my 2001 Focus ZX3 with 5.25" midrange and 1.25" tweeters in them. I put two layers of deadener on the panels to help stiffen the plastic up a little bit. Then I ran my 6.5" woofers in the doors along with another set of tweets in 1". This was one of the best sounding front stages that I've personally ever heard. The staging and imaging were very very good. Everything was ran off a Sundown sax100.4 and 125.2, all the while lacking a little bit of power. The setup kept up very nicely with the 4 Sundown sa12's doing 154's on music.

Unless you are working on midbass, I'd stay away from the kicks and focus on the dash/a pillar area for midrange and tweets ...

Just my suggestion

Thanks. For now, the initial install will use the kicks since I have them. Will go from there. See how it goes.

I still have the kick panels if you are interested in buying them. They are dark gray in color, so if that matches the interior you could save some money over paying retail. Let me know if you're interested and I will snap some pics and you can check them out.
