no recone avalible

I have two quantum 15" q3000 15/d subs, i believe they are rated about 750 watts RMS (claimed) they run fine for now and i have no current issues, my question is there is no direct cone replacements from the manufacture. If and when it does blow, would it be worth my time to take the cone, spider and voice coil out and measure then go order soft parts per measured specs from PSI or other quality manufacture of soft parts. Or would it be best to just chunk it all together and buy better quaility 15's. I like the soundqubed hds315's my neighbor has three in his f150. So back to question, recone these quantums with better soft parts (if possible) for better power handling and sound or just replace entire sub (when they blow) if anyone has recone experience i would appricate your honest opinion on reconing these, its got a decent double stack magnet and the basket (seams) sturdy i dont think its stamped steel. Quantum is made by DB drive idk where they stand on quality i assume its down there on the totum pole.

I would sell the motors and baskets and buy new subs.

Is not worth to recone them since the motors are pretty weak (from the parameters you listed before), the recone wouldn't fix that, if performance is not enough for you just get some better subs and sell those now while they are still undamaged.

Reasons why...

IF you recone them you are probably going to spend 60-90 on a recone, maybe more. Plus if you want it to be louder, take more power, etc, you are limited by the smaller motor and the coil size.

Everything in my mind leads to sell them BEFORE they blow and upgrade.

Thank you guys, with my current budget i was looking at some sundown e-line 15"s but i think for $40 dollars or so more i could get the soundqubed hds315's they have a 3" coil compaired to e series sundown @2.5" and they RMS 1200 verse sundown e-line @ 500 watts.... so many decisions. I dont have enough money aside for replacement just yet so i can still get help on picking quality "budget friendly" 15's

Cheap subs, they are throwaways like your alpines, kenwoods, pioneers, etc..

Really to recone the woofer I bet your looking at a solid $80 in parts, not to mention the time searching for parts that fit the needed specs, and if you dont know what your doing you may end up with a even worse than before woofer.

Sure you could maybe send it to a place like fixmyspeaker, but then your probably easily looking at $120 per woofer plus shipping both ways and at the end of the day its still a throwaway sub.

So this is why your better off spending a little more up front than this awesome cheap flea market gear.

Say if you get a sundown e15 and blow it, that recone is roughly $45 and your off to bumping again.
