Kyblack76
So at 0dB the amp is doing its full rms rating correct? I want as loud as I can safely go without clipping everything to hell. No... Quote SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold

meade916
Myself ive never used the dd1 for setting mids and highs.... Pretty obvious when they sound like shit.. just me. i personally would never set my mids and highs without a scope or a dd-1. Once you know your limits of course backing down from that limit by ear is acceptable. If i was going to "guess" my gains on any part of my system it would be the subwoofers not the highs. They can take more abuse if you are wrong...and unless you know your starting point, you probably are wrong. 1 Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
I have a rockford p300x2 running a pair of infinity kappa tweeters that say 50 watt rms and a pair of pioneer ts-D1730C 60 watt rms soon to be sundown sa 6.5csv2 .. with the dd1 currently would I be ok with the -5db track? it sounds like your amp is slightly too big for those mids/highs. That 300x2 is probably doing 400 watts. Get the proper sized amp or use the -5 to start with and back it down a little bit. I wouldn't use the 0db track. Personally, something like a -2 or -3 overlamp would be perfect for those IMO. Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Jessica
if you are using the 80prs, just use the "mid" out to set your tweeter amp then plug your "highs" out back up. I set my amp with the 0db and then just used the pioneers menu to cut the output on each tweeter by -5. I have my right tweeter at -7 and my left at -5 to help pull my sound stage back towards center. Your results may vary. tbeats
I have the sundowns in now, so would -5db be safe to use now?
reedal
Try it out. Don't go hammering on it right off though. Slowly turn it up after setting with the -5dB and listen for any popping, distorting, smells. Make sure sub-bass is off so you can really concentrate on what the mids and tweets are doing. But all in all, I think you should be good to go. You may have mentioned it already, but are you doing active or passive?
