im thinking about doing the same thing with my tib. run a hydraulic pump where the stock alt is and run a line to a hydraulic motor in the spare tire well where it'll turn four alts. I hope this post gets some answers..

I've only seen one or maybe two setups with PTO hydraulic pump/motor fed alternator setups.

PTO setups are fairly easy to set up these days ... Just kinda pricey. I wouldn't do it for no less than a four or more alternator setup personally. Just Saying

I saw pictures of one in the late 90s. Sure it can be done but why exactly? The cost to do this right will be a lot. Like thousands of dollars to do correctly. You will need a pump and a tank that has to go somewhere. You need lines and fittings (custom made $$), and a pressure relief valve to regulate pressure. Then you need a hydraulic motor to power the alts and some kind of belt drive or use one motor per alt in a direct drive setup. You would be lucky to fit one in your spare tire well, let alone four. The power to run the alts would be more than if you just ran them off your engine. I would not want any of this inside the car. Just imagine what a leak would do. There is a reason why this is not common. What kind of car do you have?

I just don't know what you're talking about and I'm not being an ass. I want to see pictures or other setups so I can get an understanding.

The basic idea is you have your engine drive a hydraulic pump via the serpentine belt, then the fluid being moved by said pump turns a hydraulic motor that can be mounted where you have more room, like NOT in your engine bay.

Hydraulic motor + serpentine belt + alt(s) + tensioner(s) + brackets and mounting hardware = the option to run multiple ho alts without trying to shoehorn them all in engine bay. So if you're trying to run 2-3 alts in a cramped engine bay, or 20+ alts for the demo rig from Hell, you can utilize other areas of the vehicle to place the alts.

Something like this, but in your trunk, not directly connected to the engine.
