Daddy_ Posted April 19, 2016 Report Posted April 19, 2016 I have a 2012 Acura TL Elite with 2 10" JL Audio WXv2 running off a MB Quart 500.1 at 2ohms. I have the factory head unit with a Audio Control LC2i. My factory deck goes to 40 and after about volume 12-13 the subs do not get any louder. I was wondering if it is that my hi-low converter is not good enough and maybe I should get a different once or a actual processor. Or is it because the equipment I have is all entry level? I am switching this setup out soon bor either 2 12" or 1 beefy 12" but I thought it would hit a lot harder than this. diegoclass2010 Posted April 19, 2016 Report Posted April 19, 2016 What kind of box? And what vehicle? It could be your high and low coverter not working correctly, and this not letting you set your gains correctly... how did you set your gains? And your right its entry level equipment with low power, but it should nice
ShadeTreeMechanic Posted April 19, 2016 Report Posted April 19, 2016 Sometimes the factory system will reduce output to the sub at high volume. Are you connected to the factory sub out? Skullz Posted April 19, 2016 Report Posted April 19, 2016 Which rca outputs are you using? Make sure your using the variable output and not the fixed one. You want to use the "Bass" output and not the "Main" output. While i cannot say that that is your problem it is something to look at. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
DrewJones Posted April 19, 2016 Report Posted April 19, 2016 There are quite a few factors that play into this. Gain too high on your amp.Gains too high on you hi/lo converter.Bass setting too high on radio, causing it to not allow it to get any louder after volume 12/13. J-Lane Posted April 19, 2016 Report Posted April 19, 2016 I'm pretty sure the problem is the factory head unit. I drive a lot of rental cars on trips for work and I've notoced most manufacturers seem to have some kind of limiter on the bass when you get the volume above half way or so. I'm guessing it's to protect the cheap speakers that come with the car. I'm not sure, but I thought that I read something about the Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.3 being able to compensate for this kind of thing (anyone else able to confirm this?). If you want to keep your factory head unit you could look into the 3SIXTY.3. Otherwise, I think you might want to look for an aftermarket head unit.
