ok so ill start with the basics. 2006 Porsche cayenne stock electrical charging at 14.5. 0gauge wiring to the amp, and 8gauge to the subs. amp is a hifonics bxi2006d and the subs are 2-2ohm sundown x15s.

ok so the story, been running this amp for years with no problems. that is until yesterday I finished my install with the x15s. wired them to 1ohm winch was probably the first mistake. box is 9 cubes port tuned to 32hz. the thing beat pretty dam good but a few times last night it sent the amp in protect. I flipped the breaker off and on and it was back to normal. then today at work I turned the gains down and messed with a few settings and it still pounded but I hit a good note and that sent it right back into protect and even flipping the breaker, turning the car off and letting it sit, it still remains in protect.

now, I know this amp is pretty much inadequate the way I have it set up but the amp is tired and I'm trying to find a decent amp that will perform but won't make me skip a mortgage payment. trying to stay under the 700 range. was looking at the American bass phantom "4k",the tramps"5k", and a few others but I want to know everyone honest opinion on what would be best for this setup. thanks in advance!

The only American bass line that's good is the VFL other wise sundown, incriminator , DD makes awesome amps, there are others to but u have 2 awesome subs feed those beasts good clean power your gonna have to spend some money I'd go with digital design M4 . That DC amp has good power. I can't believe u ran hifonics on 2 x series. That's like driving a lambo with Prius rims on it

How could you wire 2 dual 2 subs to one ohm? .5, 2 and 8 are your only options.

He didn't. Probably wired to .5. Doesn't have the electrical to back it up since its stock, hence amp protecting.

I know we're not so posed to diss brands but we to start a thread about hifonics .

I think it's funny... My breaker keeps tripping amps going into protect..... Lets get a 4k amp

Haha lambo with prius rims yea pretty much. As for the power i wasnt tripping the breaker and my voltage wasnt even dropping past 12, i just reset to try and clear everything and see what i could do with it. I will be ordering the second battery along with the amp so that will also help. I may have just followed a bunk wiring diagram. Said it was suppose to be at 1 ohm but your probably right saying its actually at .5. But in all i already know this amp wasnt gonna cut it for long thats why i was askin what your opinion on amp choice for these things. Im going from 3 re 10s to this so im getting all my weakpoints figured out.

You need to figure out your alternator weak point before putting in a 4k. Otherwise go with 1.5k or less.
