doug118
Picked up the strictly audio non-daily vehicle this afternoon. The box will be a slide-in 4th order 20 10" midrange 16 Orion HCCA tweeters 2 Taramps HD8000 (mids) 2 Taramps HD800 (tweeters) 1 Singer 350a alt 4 15" Sundown Zv3's 2 Sundown SAZ3500's 2 EA 370a alts 19v for substage The Jeep itself. She's rough around the edges but I'll take good care of her I gutted front the b-pillar back the day I got it. I'll be cutting the roof braces out and doing 2 sheets of 3/4" MDF on the roof. The quarter panels will be completely filled with spray foam with 2" PVC pipes ran down each side to run the wiring I was finally able to talk someone into selling me their 4 15" Zv3's. Every time a set popped up for sale, I didn't have the money at that particular moment. Luckily I grabbed them today Just like my Tahoe build log, I'm going to take very detailed pictures of the way I build my front stage because it'll be unlike anything anyone on forums is used to seeing. 16 10's and 16 tweeters in a 2 door... I'm excited for this one Kerfed some wood and glued it to the roof. I'm kind of worried I didn't use enough glue. Roof is 4x6' and I used 6 tubes total. I'll find out next week if it was enough Oh and don't mind the crooked lines. I let a buddy do the cuts who's never used a circular saw before lol This isn't as easy as I thought it would be but its getting done 2001 Tahoe. doug118
Today was probably the most productive day I've ever had when it comes to car audio stuff. Got about 75% of the box done. Still need loading wall and sub baffle and it's all set Yes everything is crooked. They were just randomly spaced out until the spacers were inserted and welded up Got started on the doors. Measuring and actually getting things cut end up having 2 very different dimensions. Each front door will get 5 10's and 5 tweeters. I also have to make custom front seats to fit min the remaining area but that'll be the last thing I end up doing Still unsure of which tweeters I'm going to run so I didn't cut those holes yet Forgot to get the bendy plywood so I'll finish the doors on Monday Doors are done, for now. Have to decide if I want to paint them or wrap them. Also have to make grills for each door but that can't be done until I know if I'm painting or wrapping Made my steering wheel today. I was going to have an adapter made but I did what I usually do and hack something together Adapter plate with all holes drilled What's left of my stock steering wheel Adapter and stock piece All bolted together Dust cap to cover the ugliness And the back side, which is REALLY ugly and weird looking. Good thing no one will ever see it in person I forgot to mention why I made the steering wheel. I made both doors symmetrical based off of the passenger side and didn't think about the steering wheel... well here's the drivers side 2001 Tahoe. doug118
So I've finally realized I just wing everything and assume it's going to work and usually get extremely lucky. Just like the door panels and the steering wheel. Well I finally cut the sub baffles and took one home to test fit the subs and they are way too close for my liking. Not sure what I'm going to do about this one Here's how the rest of the box is shaping up so far. It's been in the 90's for heat with 60%+ humidity so I stopped working on everything all together until a few cooler days roll through then I'll finish the box Haven't done much since the weather won't stop being 90+. I finished the first sub baffle, which was a task getting everything measured up perfectly. The gaps between the subs aren't perfectly symmetrical but they're close enough for me The grooves for the basket were the tough part. I wanted to make sure there was as much room as possible to run the bolts for the subs Just threw it into the back of the shell just to see how it looked I forgot I had missed some spots on the cage with paint before I started gluing the wood down so I went crazy and painted everything. I think it looks kind of cool Also picked up more copper today. I don't know how the batteries are going to be placed so I just keep buying all the copper I can until I figure out what I'm doing exactly. I'm going to most likely use the large square piece as distribution panels for all the power and grounds 2001 Tahoe. doug118
Thanks guys. I'm shooting for a 160 pretty much right out of the gate. There's 2 Cherokee 4th orders that I've studied pretty well. Jared's, which when he ran 4 15" Zv3's was able to do a 162 "legal" with a pair of NS1's and Kevin Futrell's 2 door, which does a 160.x with 4 Zv4's and 4 saz3500's. Sealed scores are just a base to gauge where the truck should be. Where I compete, you play music with all doors open for 3 1-minute rounds and you're judged on overall sound, which explains the 36 mids & highs 2001 Tahoe. Kyblack76
i dig 2 doors. Ran around with a buddy in high school that had a blue two door with a manual tran. We beat that thing like it owed us money. And it just ran and ran. I like the look of them also. I had a white 4 door for 9 years. I put tires and a battery in that (with service) in the entire time i owned it. Nice work man. Wish ya luck. doug118
dont see too many 2 door jeeps, especially one thats still solid. Tuned in for this one! This one is far from solid lol the rockers are pretty bad but the floors are good. I'm constantly on the lookout for a clean 97+ 2 door to replace this one with but they are pretty uncommon 2001 Tahoe.
