s5300 Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 What are we looking at man? A fuse block? From all you've given us maybe some sort of short?
Skullz Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 That is what happens when a connection gets loose and heats up from the extreme resistance. This is why i prefer to use lugs on the wire and have them bolted to the fuse, with the lugs being crimped. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
Ron36 Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 Skulls is 100% right , that's exactly what happens with a loose connection 2022 Ford Maverick on 22’s Skar SK1500.1 on 4 Skar VD-8’s Mids Sundown Super tweeters, Skar TX 6.5 components on Skar SKM400.4 LC2 for audio control , XS Power D680 XS Series Extra Battery
Ron36 Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 I've seen this at work before , people install aftermarket stuff and they power it by ramming a wire into the fuse box and when what ever they powered goes bad they pull the wire out and then the fuse gets loose and burns up 2022 Ford Maverick on 22’s Skar SK1500.1 on 4 Skar VD-8’s Mids Sundown Super tweeters, Skar TX 6.5 components on Skar SKM400.4 LC2 for audio control , XS Power D680 XS Series Extra Battery
Skullz Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 The reason this occurs under the hood is from the engine rocking back and forth which over time will loosed the connection when you use the fuse holders with set screws. Some people will check them from time to time and tighten them so they don't have the problem that happened here, but i will not ever use those fuse holders under the hood of my car ever again, as it did the very same thing to me. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
rfbasshead Posted August 5, 2016 Author Report Posted August 5, 2016 Yea that's my fuse block from my alt to my battery. My truck literally runs for 8 hours a day and a lot of the time the alt is doing work. I drive a lot on he freeway and I like loud music
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted August 5, 2016 Report Posted August 5, 2016 Where do you normally have that screwed down to? That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
rfbasshead Posted August 6, 2016 Author Report Posted August 6, 2016 A 2x4 that I use to raise my battery higher.
