Just installed my 260 amp alt in my 06 scion xb. At most it should be charging at 14.7 hot... at idle my voltage is at 16.5 to 17 volts.im mean im not 1 to conplaing biut high voltage but this is a littlw to high for my d3400..not trying to swell up my battery among other things in the car..has anyone else had this "overvoltage" issue

That is definitely way too high for a cars electrical system.

Where and how are you getting a voltage reading?

Don't keep running it, leave the car off and contact singer immediately before you fry shit.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

Sounds like a bad regulator. You made need to send the alt in for service

Thabks for all the replies..only had ot running for about 2 min. Mike hit me up this morning and told me to fix it. The regulator was turned to high. Quick simple fix, putting a ring terminal on one of the wires and connecting to the charging bolt..charging at 14.3 to 14.5 now..

Yea, that is how he does his new alts as far as the sense wire(? the blue one i think), just looped of the harness to the charging stud. I had issues doing it the normal way (just running it through the OEM harness) to where it would make the battery light on my dash stay on even though voltage either way was 14.9v cold.
