`95 Grand Cherokee Limited (JBL) It's a start...

Recommended Posts

Ok... I am going to do fiberglass molds for the doors. I will use the wood for trim and mounting pieces as necessary. I ordered another set of speaker mounting rings and I will be doing my original design plan for the door with two component sets in each door and the crossovers mounted to the panels.

Something like this:

I've had best luck with subs and port up in same body style Jeep. Sub(s) up port to the passenger side has worked best for the meter. I've built so many boxes for that body style Jeep.

I use the Q-form kickpanels which I'll vouch for. All in, the time and materials (and itching) you save may be worth the 200$+ price tag from trying to build the doors yourself. That said, tuned in for ideas. I have plenty of equipment laying around but have yet to try anything crazy with the doors.

Oh and if you can find the big boy Crown amp, you will need to really plan around fitting that. AND if your friend ever needs his fixed SoundWest Audio in Tacoma is the authorized JBL/Harmon repair center and AFAIK the only guys who will fix the big boy crown amps.

Watch the clamps on power wire under neath the jeep. Best to use a rubber and metal clamp and wrap wire in wire wrap also.

I have been checking them. So far there have been no issues with the nylon clamps. I am with you though. I may go to Harbor Freight and get the heavy duty metal clamps with the rubber centers... it was my first thought but I was home and wanted to get the cable ran.

Screwed around with the Jeep a little last night. Just added some 1/0 to 4awg power and ground connectors so I could run 1/0 from the battery to the cap then to the amplifiers. Pay no mind to the messy wires. I have a plan when I get the new amplifiers (RF Punch amps). Behind the back seats, between the box and the seat backs, I am going to build an enclosure to house the RF amps. Hopefully with a plexi cover so they can be viewed. The 2 farad SQ capacitor will be replaced with a Stinger 10 farad cap and will be moved under the rear passenger seat, at which time a second 1/0 ground wire will be added to the ground block under the same seat. There will be 80mm 12v fans for the amp rack/enclosure... maybe some L.E.D.'s. A Mechman 260 amp alternator is on the list. Anyway, some pics from last nights upgrade.

And I vacuumed the nasty carpet and the box... not that it helps but here ya go again. By the way, the boards under the box are there to lift it off the carpet... somehow it gets wet. So until I can stop the leak, they are saving the MDF.
