crownvictoria31
I want to swap my 1/0 to 2/0 gauge on my big 3 just because I'm bored and have these cables on hand. Will I come across any issues like maybe engine noise through speakers or other electrical problems?
Jhunt94
There's no downside to putting bigger wire, unless you don't have the room for it. I'm sure the 1/0 is big enough for the amount of current required in your system. Most people only run 2/0 so that they don't have to make multiple runs of 1/0. 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Cab. crownvictoria31
I have the room for it and also the wires. I have these nice copper lugs to. I just don't want this stuff laying around here. I guess I'll install it. Battery + to alternator + Battery - to alternator -(casing) or engine block battery - to fender. Is a battery - to chassis a good option for a big 4 or engine block to chassis?

crownvictoria31
Current wires will be made to work on my dads 4 Runner. I just rather use the 2/0 wire being that I have a bigger system then he does. My system is only about 3300 RMS. His is 1600 rms. His light dim alittle so the big 3 will work for him. I just want to make sure that 2/0 wire is perfectly fine which as per you experts, it is. Thanks a lot.
crownvictoria31
How much ground is to much? So this is what i did in 2/0 gauge wire. Positive: Battery to alternator. Negative: Battery to factor fender Battery to direct chassis Battery to alternator casing Engine block to direct chassis. Im assuming this is all fine? Every negative was grinded to bare shinny metal. So is this all fine?
06RTCharger
Is there any reason that doing alt ground-to-battery ground terminal is BETTER than going alt ground-to-frame? I would think that the alt having its own ground would be prefered? Rather than sharing ground wire with the battery, right? Just wondering if one method is superior to the other with grounding alt. Not thread jackin, i think this info might help OP also. And also OP ive heard its good to upgrade ALL grounds on ur engine, for performance. Helps make sure all ur electricals within the engine have clear paths for current to run. Like for spark plugs firing and such. Probably dont need 2/0 for that lol but sounds like you probabaly have other extra wires layin around, maybe some 4awg or 8awg. Anything is an improvement from the tiny ground wires car manufacturers install on our cars. Just passin on some info i heard, goodluck.
crownvictoria31
06rtcharger, i like your questions. I have no answer for them though. Ive watched videos and went for what i did. If there is another way to do the negative grounding, please advise.
