Man, all this bass-weight ate up my stock brakes in no time!  And i'm not really driving it hard.  I am indeed over the load capacity of the car when I sit in it (700 pounds bassweight, plus 190lbs of me), so I'm straining some of the components a bit - brakes, suspension, and driveline included!  Considering how cheap this car is, when it breaks, I'll just upgrade the component or beef it up.

Hell yeah! I considered doing a brake upgrade on my truck too...my system is fairly light weight for what it is (Baltic birch and super caps FTW lol) but with the added weight of the v8, she's probably quite close to being over weight hahaha

Looking good man!

What glue did you use to fill the seams on the panel? Looks like it cures well

Thanks man! PL 3X.

So my neighbor (who manages a body shop) sent me some potato quality pics of my pinch seam repair.  There has been lots of weld laid.  Not the prettiest, but this should hold me over for a bit.

This is the first work on the car thats been performed by someone else.  I feel so 'out of the loop' not seeing every little step along the way.

If you have the money to buy one, just buy it.  You will learn very quickly.  And then there's forums focused on welding, just like SMD is for audio, so learning tricks for the task at hand is easy.  After that, it only takes a few inches or a few feet of weld to pick up the finesse part of it.

Picked up my car from the body shop today.

I was only charged $22/hr for labor rate since my neighbor is being neighborly and all, so its hard to complain about a 50 cent dustcap.  So I grabbed the shop vac and popped the suction end all over the dust cap, following the curvature.  There was a really soft crease but most of the dent popped out.

The shop used a special spot welder to pinch the seam and spot the weld.

IMG_1340.jpg

I told them to leave it primer because I'm still working on the car.  It also saved me time and money.

IMG_1341.jpg

The positive side?  The dude also welded the open end where the 2 sheets meet, so this thin ass pinch seam has plenty of connection points!

IMG_1342.jpg

Here's the only place the primer shows on the outside.  Not bad.  I might rhino-line the roof or something.  Havent decided yet, but looks are outweighed by function right now!

Are you going to make grills for the door pods?
