Dont crossovers normally have to be made for specific speakers? Do people normally interchange brands of crossovers?

Each crossover has its own characteristics (slopes, cutoff frequencies, tweeter boosts, etc), but you can 'plug' any speaker into any crossover.  Whether or not you get a desirable effect is dependent on all the details of the speaker and crossover.

Spend some time to read this: http://www.passivecrossovers.com/index.htm

If you're running a 5.25" driver (if I read that correctly), I'd be very careful as to what crossvover to use. Choose wisely. More info with your goals would help ...

Kenwood / HELIX / Linear Power (For The Love Of Music) / Brutal Sounds / OverKill Electric Co

Questions About Sound Quality ?? Try Here ... Sound Quality, What does it REALLY mean ??

Yeah I was going to do active, but I was thinking about building my own crossovers for the speakers. The thing is I don't really have time to do that.

Goal is to be loud and sound natural, nothing coloring the sound. I was looking for some crossovers that were made better than stuff like 20$ swiss audio crossovers. I wanted something made right and nice, without having to build it myself (in which I would go full out Nichicon MUSE).

You dont like the DDaudio CC1 or the CC2? They have those passive crossovers, $150.

No, I don't. I don't recognize some of the parts on there and I'm very particular about crossovers and how they sound. They might claim to be made with good parts, but I tried finding the manufacturers and I can't find them openly.

I agree. I use an old school Linear Power XO2. Perfect if you don't have to time align separately ...

Most guys/gals probably don't care about time alignment . I haven't even attempted time alignment myself and I'm pretty happy...I just know if DD wanted these on a passive it would have been supplied..
