Im looking into some train horns, and I just dont know much about them...

I found the Hornblasters Rocker 228 horn kit, and for $320, im just not sure how it holds up for the price. Im just looking for some insight on train horns in general, and if that kit is worth getting. I want loud and deep, but I dont want to spend $1000. The $300ish price range was what im looking for, so if anyone knows something better for that price, that would be great. I dont need anything crazy, just enough to scare my friends if they walk in front of my truck lol. Space isnt much of an issue either.

Thanks in advance for help on this

You may be better off getting actual big rig horns from a kenworth or peterbuilt dealer and then plumbing them in to a decent compressor. at least those horns are proven to last a very long time in the weather. between those, a compressor, and the hoses/wires will probably end up around $300 - $400.

I've used the conductor's special 228V kit with the 4 horns and it is pretty nutty. I'm sure the rocker 228 kit would be equally impressive for it's price point.

I've also used kits from Klienn and Wolo, the Hornblaster's kits are definitely louder.

Whats the price point on your rig? Also, do you have a vid of them?

Thanks guys

My 18 Wheeler Wrecker has both. I love the DEEP tone of the Rig Horns bit those Train Horns get SUPER LOUD !!!

Any major Truck Stop Chrome Shop sells air horn setups ... But you will need at least 100 - 120 psi to make them sound correct ...

Okay. The ones I found ran 140psi i think. It had 2 actual horns with it, i take it one was a low and one was a high. Will 140 be good?

Yes, big trucks or trains normally regulated around 120. My train set has 3 or 4 horns (can't remember)

But yes, different tones.
