Fusing on multiple runs

Recommended Posts

Just weird how I get different answers on this depending who I ask. Is there equation to figure this out?

Fuse for what the run is rated for not higher. You could fuse for lower and see if they blow. Either way it makes no difference because it is just to protect the wire.

Meh. So confusing.

So for battery runs from front to rear battery, we would fuse for the wire's rating (in my case 300A for 0 Gauge Knu Kolossus Wire).

For my DC5K Amp in the trunk going to my rear battery, I would use 250A fuses for the two power runs connected to the amp for a total of 500A (rated on the website for DC5K)?

If I were to use dual 1/0 inputs for a total of 4 power runs, would I then divide 500A by four and use 125A Fuses for each of the four run?

Personally, I wouldn't fuse between the amp and rear battery. But if you wanted to, then the rating divided between the number of runs is how you would do it.

Yep 4 125amp fuses for your dc5k if u have dual inputs

2 250amp fuses for dc5k with no dual inputs

From what my consensus is for 4 runs from front to back, is fuse them to Max amperage draw.

Hmm 125A is an oddball # to find fuses for. Would I round up to 150A or down to 100A ?

Same, and same.... Never ran a fuse from bat bank to amplifier input, UNLESS its a long ish run. The ONLY reason we fuse in the burban, is because rules require it, in the ORG we compete in. Other than that, i never have ran a fuse from bat bank to amp in. Again, unless that run was long and made its way around half the back of the rig. And if i i did dual inputs, yes, i would run half the rated on each line. Just because.  I would do the exact same SHADE. Just me, and how i do it.
