Test Bench Upgrade! Sorensen DCR 16-625T 10,000 watt DC power supply - Wired up! Laser cut LED lit acrylic! Update 11-16-18 Pics inside!

Just scored this Sorensen power supply from the legendary Garry  Springay. Its used, has a few blemishes on it, but i don't care. I plan on deleting the battery bank from my test bench and using this instead. It will be ran off the fuse panel (3ph 208). It should have rock solid dc voltage up to 10,000 watts. I cant wait to get it hooked up! Here are some pics of it as it just arrived. I will post more pics and of course do a lot more testing once it is in!

I think I remember an article where Garry said he upgraded to the 20 or 25kW version and it was like $40,000? Insane! Don't quote me on that price, I can't recall for sure. This power supply is sweet, will turn that power meter like Clark W Griswold's 20,000 imported lights though ?

When the Griswold house lights up, .. entire neighborhood dims, and dude throws the auxiliary nuclear switch,.. I shit myself laughing,   every ,.... single....  time...

Today, the bro Tim Sr. came by and wired up the power supply!  I decided to gut out my test bench and start it from scratch (at least the wiring).  I decided on a flexible wire with twist locks so i can have the option of moving it around or disconnecting it if i choose.  I didn't want to be wired into the wall in a manner that caused me to be stuck in the corner of my shop.

 

We used this gigantic 6-4 wire (4, 6ga cables).  Power is 3 phase 208.

removed all of this stuff from under the table....the charger will be free'd up for other stuff now! The 12v battery you see is there because i wanted the deck to have it's own 12v source.  It was on a step down module from XS Power.  The relay's were on the SMD Led Meters up front. They will all get redone.  I am going to grab a brand new single din from a local shop so it can have a fresh deck when it's all up and running.

working on video #1 of probably 2.  I got pretty far today but i want to make some cover panels with my new laser cutter when it arrives next week.  So today's video will be today's progress. It was WORK taking all that shit apart
