Hello all. New to the forum. So I came across the Sundown X 12” v2. I am wanting to give it a try. I currently have 2 Rockford T0s in a ported box wired at 1 ohm. I have the Rockford t1000 bd amp so at 1 ohm it’s making 1513 watts. Can anyone give me an idea of how different the X 12 will sound compared to my rockfords ? Will it be worth it ? Thanks in advance !!

I can’t say for sound quality, but for volume you will rarely gain a noticeable difference, or at least not much of one solely by changing a subwoofer, and not changing anything else. There are exceptions to this of course. But on the same power it will be about the same volume.

here are some exceptions.

speaker sensitivity. If one is a lot more sensitive then the other it will be louder.

if one was crap and the other was high quality I would expect to see a difference.

if keeping the same box, and the box was way off from the specs the old one needs but right for the new one.

You get the idea. There are a lot of other variables when you start factoring in sound quality.  What are you wanting to gain doing the swap? Will you end up putting more power or it later?

Thanks for the reply ! I was wanting to keep the amp the same. Also I didn’t mention I have the big 3, mechman 250amp alternator and a Mesa 1500 AGM batt. I was definitely wanting to hit the lows better as I feel the t0s do ok but not great. I was hoping for it to be louder but I understand what your saying with keeping the same power it prob won’t be louder.

my main want for the swap would be the lows for sure. How much do you sacrifice with the “higher” freq with the x12 ?

You'll gain more "loud" and "feel"

Your going from a 700rms sub with 14mm xmax and 84.4db sensitivity to a 1500rms sub with 30mm xmax and same 84.4db sensitivity.

There no way you could not tell the difference.

Scott, you been drinking today or something?

The t0 actually isn't all that bad on the low end but the xv2 does a slightly better job imhe and will need a bigger box.

Still, your comparing two 12's to one, that's a pretty big difference in output.

Lol I wish. It isn’t that you couldn’t see or feel a difference but it sounded to me like he was keeping the same power and box and going from 2 12” to 1 12” I just don’t think there is going to be a huge difference. I have been wrong before.
