upgrade electrical system, 1200 rms

Hi, I’m about to buy an amp for my subs but i don’t know if the one I’m looking for will be a good match.

My system : Kenwood excelon kmm-503 (5v rca output), amp - KAC 9106D on 4 gauge and a single p3d4-12 rockford fosgate wired at 2 ohm. Honda Fit 2008 with a 90 amp alternator.

i want to buy a second p3d4-12 and wired them at 1 ohm. So, I was interested by the rockford fosgate prime 1200.1D to replace my KAC 9106D. I’m on the stock electrical system, but I’m planning to do the big 3 on 1/0 gauge and wired the amp on 1/0 too, (even if it needs 4 gauge)

I’m wondering if i will have enough CLEAN power to max my p3. they can take 1200 rms and the prime will produce just enough power so there’s might be clipping since ill max its output. And do i need a HighOutput alternator to not starve the amp? Is this a good amp for my need. Do you have suggestion that can do a better job for my need? Thanks!

PS : I don’t want to put too much money if not needed to upgrade electrical system.

Go to your fuse box. Add up all the fuses.

 

The total is generally how powerful your alternator is.

 

Get the big 3 done right now. Its EXTREMELY  easy and makes you feel way more confident. 

 

Beyond that, I dont have any knowledge to share.

 

Other then I once was told theres no such thing as "clean" power

That amp will be great for those subs. The only thing I would do to electrical is the big 3 and possibly an upgraded battery. No need for a high output alt.

@MrSkippyJ I wanted to apologize to you for the things I said and for flipping out like a child and making myself look foolish. I hope you accept my apology. And to be honest with you, I will still be bumping at your age and past. If I rolled around in a rascal and collected Medicare, I would put a system on my rascal even when I’m too old to drive. Maybe I’ll grow out of. I don’t know. But I’ve been into it since I was 13, so I might be in it for the long run too. Long story short, you probably don’t wanna hear this, but I’m sorry. For real. I drink too much sometimes and blank. You don't understand clipping.

 

If the amp is 1200 watts, just because your using all 1200 watts doesn't mean your clipping.

 

The prime 1200bis good for over 1200, I remember Dyno on one it did about 1500 irrc.

 

That amp will push them subs perfectly fine. be as stated above, no need for a ho alt. Big 3 and extra battery will do.

 

But if you need an alt, BRAND X.

 

those eBay ho alts do not put  out amperage
