What's The Highest Strand Count You Know Of

So which is better?

Assuming both are the same over size.

Smaller more strands or less larger strands? And why?

IMO smaller more strands is better, it would be more flexible, and possibly more surface area, if they are both 1/0 I would say the thinner multistrand would have more area becuase it has more strands, seeing how electricity flows across the wire and not through it.

Skin Effect depends on the frequencies of the electricity. Higher the frequency the more toward the outside the electrons will travel. Another thing to consider is heat. It a tighter weave, there will be more of a heat build up causing a raise in resistance. Larger strands will dissipate heat quicker then smaller strands.

not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it. :)

So if that is right then welding cable would have a lower resistance....

The skin effect is the tendency of an alternating electric current (AC) to distribute itself within a conductor so that the current density near the surface of the conductor is greater than that at its core. That is, the electric current tends to flow at the "skin" of the conductor. The skin effect causes the effective resistance of the conductor to increase with the frequency of the current. Skin effect is due to eddy currents set up by the AC current.

yup but if your talking about speaker wire then OFC welding cable would be better...
