newls1
Keep in mind that I work at a "mom and pop" type summit/jegs parts store here in west palm beach and can get a stock 140amp alt for my tahoe for $61... I've been searching for an H/O alt for my 02 tahoe, of course I see 250+amp units for ~300+bones. I emailed MLA to see if they to sold ALTs to compliment their module(s), and the answer I got was "no" HOWEVER they offer a dual bracket setup for running 2 stock alts and a module kit type of setup. Would running 2 new stock alts, and their module setup be just as good as running 1 HO alt, or might it be even better? MLA seems to be a great shop, an offered extremely fast response to my email, Thanks Chris! MLA, please dont think i'm doubting you, just looking for a general consensus on this.......... Chode69
thats is a VERY interesting concept...half the price and the same output....hmmmm they may be onto something Quote NoFearX18 said: Nick will bang just about anything.....LMAO....pun intended On 4/13/2010 at 9:51 AM, meade916 said: i was like DAMN, Chode is hardcore! he makes james look like a friendly person LOL! trainman0978 said: I dont know who is worse with the buttholes Chode or Big P... techaninna
I'd do it as well..... In fact that is what I would like to do when I get another 1500. From what I have been told and read that dual stocks will preform more effectively while putting out the same output as a single HO alt. Edit>> Can you get stock alts for an 02 Avalanche that cheap? 00sdime00
I'd do it. About the same total output as the HO, but your output at idle would walk all over it. Stephen
I would take 2 stock alts over 1 HO alt. Higher amp alts usally suck at idle and i bet 2 factory alts would destroy 1 HO alt at idle and still have the same high rpm output as the 1 HO. Quote you can cook bacon shirtless if you're not a pussy...lol not hatin, but am i wrong here it looks as if the amp is not grounded its hooked directly to the battery. it that the way it should be. ALPINE408
I would do it then get the stock alts wound up for high output so you have 2 ho alts with the mla would be sweet Pretty sure they can get a stock 140 alt over 200 amps Quote Have you ever had your woofers blown? MECHMAN
Two stock alts would have a little better low RPM output than a single 300 amp unit, but a little less on top. I would do it if you can get the bracket cheap. $61 for a stock AD244 sounds awfull cheap though, I would make sure you are getting the right thing. It might just be a CS130D which only does 70/105amps stock. Quote 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
