stratusrt01
A Sundown SAZ-3000d can run at .25 ohms wide open on music? BTW: I know the answer already...
banginAltima
Not to be a smart ass... but until it goes into protect.... Pretty quick if you try to crank it.. stratusrt01
I guess I should have added, .25 ohms, wide open on music, and at 18.3 volts..... And yes, eventually it went into protect from overheating, but it took about 10 minutes cranking on it pretty hard. As soon as it cooled down, it came right back on and started playing just fine again. Props to Jacob for building a hell of an amp that will take some abuse. It's wired back up at 1 ohm now, and playing great. You guys know I have to stress test everything!!!!
Aaron813
untill you run out of battery reserve ide guess

You didn't say 18.3 v thats a little different there... but I should have guessed that coming from you. I would have guessed about 5 to 6 mins.... Quote If you build it, db's will come... Aaron813
The reason for my statement is I ran My Hifonics XXthor for over an hour on a TC sounds 5200 way over at volume 52 when my headunit is set for 40. This was on bass testers before smoke started to pour out of the box since I fried the sub and the ohm load was .35 and that was over an hour of constant abuse and the amp was just fine was barely even warm. That sub was only about a week old also
sundownz
Plenty of folks run them at 0.35 DCR on 12 volts - but when you almost double the power going to 18 volts and drop it down another 33% on the DCR it tends to generate a bit more heat Quote - Jacob Fuller - Owner, Sundown Audio - Sundown Audio on FACEBOOK - Please DO NOT PM ME -- use my email address -- [email protected]
Derrick824
When I first wired up my 3000d and dual 1ohm DC Audio 15s I accidentally wired it to 0.25ohm cause I was so used to wiring my dual 2ohm Cvrs to 0.5ohm. I drove with it playing for 15min straight keeping the volume up but just low enough that my voltage stayed in the 12s. No problems at all and it never went into protect. Ford302Redneck
Nice. I know the Sundown amps don't like cranked gains/bass boost. Which isn't a bad thing.
