Airborne
What little bit I did know before these boards, i learned from the local audio shop. Ew. We didn't have a real local shop. We had a place that sold Pyrimid and swore up and dow it was the shit. We would go to ABQ to the Lowrider shows and trip when we saw Fosgate or Orion! Shyne151
I was always a hands on kind of kid... my dad had built me a tool bench/tool room by the time I was 3 or 4. Donated all his double to it, so I've always been around tools and tearing shit apart. Hell I remember my mom telling me about when i was like 2 I took apart the kitchen door lock and put it all back together by myself(backwards but it still worked!). When it came time for high school I was really into car audio, never took any automotive courses or anything... started hanging around an older crowd of dudes that worked at the local car audio shop and learned from them(boxes, a little fiberglass, ohms laws, how to run wires)... went on to circuit city and luckily had someone who knew what the hell they were doing teach me how to do alarms and remote starts... funny now we both work for competing local shops. I was one of the installers at circuit city that did everything by the book... nothing ever came back. Now I'm at a custom shop... we get all the shit no one else in the area can do... BMWs, Audi/VW, Mercedes, and pretty much all the fiberglass around. I've learned a shit ton working here just part time. I apply alot of what I learn in school(Senior CIS) to work on how to manage time, and plan things. I think that's how I manage to get jobs done on time. And now I'm at the point where I'll try anything. I do all the mechanical work on my car... rather I've done it before or not, I just like the challenge. kingsuv
Honestly, today there is no reason for someone to fuck up an install with everything that is on the net. Hell if I had the resources then that you guys have now, my skills would be a thousand times better then they are. Quote Designing, building, and shipping boxes. Yahoo IM - kingsuv00If the listening level is too loud, please inform the driver, so he can promptly pull over, and let you out. not many cars can get me to pluggin my ears but this one.......damn. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.

trainman0978
Hell, I paid a buddy of mine that works at a audio shop to install my first setup in the FJ, two years ago. Sadly, I will never pay somebody again, just from using the people and their knowledge here to help me, and that was mostly just taking the time to read and listen to what kind of mistakes they made. I even went so far as to gut my entire vehicle to install sound deadener , with only the knowledge of common sense and some help from the various forums I participate in. I have a lot of mechanical experience, but plastic interiors have a lot of hidden fasteners and clips and things that you can destroy if you dont know they are there. The internet made it so much easier. Especially when it came to pulling out my headliner and re installing it without damaging it. I still have a lot to learn... especially about tuning and some of the more technical electronic aspects of car audio, but I have the basics down, and the foundation is the key. learn the basics and the rest will be easier to understand...
