I would tap into anything that uses a smallish +ve, ie cig lighter then run some sort of switch inbetween to turn 'em on and off. Pretty basic stuff

I dont want to use a cigarette lighter because it is in a wierd place that can mess with my driving, can you use speaker wire that is powered from the head unit

No, don't do that. Use the +ve wire that powers the head unit.

I have 2 neons under my dash. I have the wires ran through the car to the back where my amp is. Have the positive wires connected to the remote turn on and the ground to the ground of the amp, obviously. This way, any time my headunit is on, my neons are on. My "switch" is the power button on my headunit.

chicken is basically the native american hulk, you think he broke that curb with his rim? think again, that was merely him stubbing his toe.

What do you mean by this? You splice into the wires behind the cigarette lighter, and you can run the wire anywhere in your car, it won't mess with your driving.

just go to your fuse box, and use a unused open one...

thats what i did.

then if u forget to turn it off and you take out your keys, they'll shut off.

just get an add a circuit like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Littelfuse-FHA200BP-...t/dp/B0002BGELQ

and plug it in your headunits fuse so the lights go off when the car is off. if you want to have even more controll over the lights you can add a switch in. just ground the lights to a bolt. dont forget to use resistors or wire the LED's in series to get a safe voltage across each lamp.
