I really like that one that looks like a warning sign saying that this car is equipped with multiple amps... etc. Ive been looking for something like that all over. Is that $1 as well?? meade916 Posted November 6, 2009 Report Share Posted November 6, 2009 i regret to say this but i think we have another legal issue on our hands....i have had complaints from some of the companies who you are making stickers using their trademarked logo's. I personally dont mind and i dont see it being a big deal, but they do. If a manufacturer complains that you are manufacturing and selling a sticker with their trademarked logo i have no choice but to stop it. Please take ALL LOGO's not created by you down. I hate seeming like im a dick right now but i am getting flack about it that i really dont need. I know your not gettin rich off this but if there is money involved, even if its almost nothing, you cant do it using someone elses logo without their written permission. If i am wrong, please email me info that i can read where it states you are legally allowed to do this. Then, after that, we can discuss you being a vendor on the site - because thats another issue. Sorry if i seem like an ass but i have a site to protect and paying vendors that need to be happy not pissed off. meade916 Posted November 6, 2009 Report Share Posted November 6, 2009 i realize that Derrick is really only getting his postage back out of the deal and its only $1 for most of them - but i have to take complaints from manufacturer's seriously - and when it comes to their trademark, it IS SERIOUS business. my site is BIG, i dont want or need issues. I feel bad that as i get even bigger, the rules have to change but it is what it is. In fact i probably told him at some point to go ahead and sell stickers here because we need a sticker guy, everyone wants them! But from what im hearing, its not OK to do that. I regret having to make this post at all and please dont hold it against me! Again, all trademarked stickers have to come down and if you would like to go into business as a vendor here selling non trademarked items, that can be worked out. After he reads this he probably wont want to though. I dont know if selling a sticker with a WORD on it is more legal then an actual image, graphic, or logo sticker. My sticker is boring and probably isnt really a trademark. Now my SMD LOGO is copywrited and although i dont mind someone also making those, if they were to make any decent profit off of it, i would want my cut, since its MY logo. i can see both sides of the fence, the easiest thing to do is to find out if its legal. BEFORE this spirals out of control, I'd like for everyone to step back just a little bit and understand a few things: 1. The SMD web community is growing at an unprecedented pace. The bigger the community gets, the more eyes are upon it. 2. Trademark infringement is a SERIOUS issue. Now, let's all be realistic here. I don't think Derrick has any other intent but to provide a service to SMD Members, as Steve points out above. But, as SMD continues to grow, we absolutely must be conscious of rules, regulations, and laws. Thanks for your understanding!
