Megalomaniac
I posted a thread earlier on a cd i bought, a lot of the store bought CDs are terrible. I just bought that new Fray album. It had an averaged -3 - -6 db throughout the song. it was very "loud" and lacked complete dynamics. After a few minutes your ears get real fatigued too from listening to such a loud and flat song. this is "You found me" by The Fray straight from the CD, not ripped They are brick walled, pretty much nothing you can do, unless they remaster it and redistribute it. chevy, using my eclipse with ipod integration, I have same issue on the output of the volume of the ipod. My CDs let me go a lot louder than my ipod will. Only thing you can do is get more power to your speakers until you are satisfied. Slinky
Well, not sure on the overall sound honestly, I try and stay away from iTunes as much as possible. I use a program called Audacity to convert, cut, mix, etc and it has options in there that WAY exceed the normal bit rates, but not sure how well it works when going above 128 bits, starts to create HUGE files anything higher than that. Also, not sure how the software works with these types of programs, but is it really all that plausible that you could take a song that was recorded at a lower bit rate and "up convert" in into a 256 or even a 512 bit rate?? I mean, how does the program know what was "originally" recorded and how to recreate all that lost data??? just something that always kind of confused me. But you guys might want to try Audacity as well, pretty nice little program....no, you cannot up convert. once its compressed, its compressed.well 320 kbps is the highest a human ear can actually hear after that there is not noticeable difference. i know i can hear i big difference in sound quality. I have M-audio BX8a's speakers in my room. if you want to get crazy quality, the format is called FLAC (free lose audio codec) where it is the same quality as the cd was recorded on.i dont believe that at all. most of my music is at 320 kbs because i am a quality freak, but i can tell a difference between 320 kbs and flac or wav format. you just cant beat uncompressed audioby the way, wav format is 1411 kb/s Edited February 5, 2009 by Slinky Quote DD M4 Rockford Fosgate P500-4 SoundQubed HDC415 w carbon fiber cap 2 Rockford Fosagate T1675-S XS Power D3400 Under Hood XS Power D5100 in rear Michael Singer 200A Alt Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/153901-2012-veloster-update-842013-wall-build-4-15s/
n8ball2013
W-BB = Warez-BB.org It's a forum like this one full of anything you could want. They only downside is that most files are hosted on a site called RapidShare.com. Now to download more than one file every 36hrs on RapidShare, it cost money. I think a month of membership w/ a 80gb permonth is like $15. But I buy the extra netshare so I get 180gb limit a month for $30. Your left over bandwidth also carries over. I get screeners for most movies there (DVD quality)...Like this past Jan., I downloaded The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Taken, Revolutionary Road, Sumdog Millionaire, & more all before release date in DVD quality. Dont give away the secret!!!!! lol I use this also along with another site for hip hop music and mixtapes. lovely isnt it? Im a rapidsharer as well. screw mediashares. emperorjj1
i love itunes personally....i need a album ive been hearing about, there it is and i hve it in a few minutes.....convenient. I dont think Itunes is "upconverting" anything, they are re-offering it at a better bit-rate. You can only upgrade the songs you purchased thru itunes, it isnt going to go thru your entire library of bootleg songs and upconvert them for you or anything like that LOL. as far as quality, id bet $100 bucks that 99.9% of you couldnt tell the difference between a real CD and an Itunes 128mbps song. I hope its a LITTLE noticeable but if not, oh well i needed tunes today anyway ill take you up on that bet.... in my car? Quote J. meade916
on rap and bass music from Itunes at 128k (not some random, you dont know where it came from, file share song), its hard to tell between 128 and 256. I have upgraded 3 full albums and im not sure how many more im going to do. It seems to sound a little better but im not sure....if i let you guys take that 100$ bet, id have to do play song A and B like 10 times and see how many times you can tell because if it was only once you could guess and still have a 50/50 chance of gettin it right. emperorjj1
lol i probably couldn't tell from itunes 128 to 256 but i can tell from 128 to a cd... probably not on bass music and a slim chance on rap but i probably could get that bet depending on what was played Quote J. Guest KyleCannon
I could definitely tell the difference between 128 and 256. I can play it a lot louder and it sounds a lot better. Losless is always the best in my opinion. I have upgraded E-40 and Jeezy and it was a noticeable difference in my car. I ended up getting a lot more bass than I did before and such. When you compress the file, the lower you go down the less sound they put in the file. So when you go to 256 you are getting double the sound data. Some songs are not worth the upgrade because of how bad they record them, but things like Dire Straits and The Eagles on Losless are AMAZING versus at 128kbps. It does make a noticeable difference in my car on good recordings. Losless is around 900-1400 so you're just getting all the sound data while in the aac codec it helps to get 256 because it helps reproduce the sound more effectively.
