Steve, (or Anyone) Honda Question.

What is the difference in getting kit one, and getting kit two, and putting a K&N, or other brand filter on it? I'm not looking for speed or any of that jazz, just want some better air flow into my motor.

both kits look the same.  Just different manufactures. 

Don't believe the hype that they advertise about HP and increased fuel mileage.  You definately get better throttle response, but don't "Expect" it

On the 2nd one you can "see in the pic" (it DOES say just a sample pic...) and assuming THAT is really what it looks like, the OPEN END of the intake filter/cone will generate more noise and a "deeper" growl AND mean more surface area/more airflow than if the other one has a sealed up end cap/plate.

In either case you better do your exhaust too and hopefully some other mods to the motor or it could do more harm than good.

More air...same fuel? same exhaust? no good.

Myself and numerous folks I know w/ hondas have had mixed success w/ CAI's on honda/acura's. The 6cyls are more tolerant IMO but the 4 cyls really require some tuning and not this "out of the box" "slap it on and go" idea as advertised as "bolt on performance".

I agree, do your exaust at the same time you do the intake to see any kind of noticeable difference in performance. You should be good with either one of those intakes though, just choose the one that looks best in your ride.

also i don't know where your at but in CA you won't pass smog with kit 2. AEM is already certified. if you go with kit 2 just don't throw out your OEM intake

spoon makes the best ones, you can go to auto zone and gt do it yourself kits, or do a drop in k&n filter

hmm they look the same to me... but i would def get the aem filter even if you go with kit 2. Its probably alot larger and alot better quality.

theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer

sorry to thread jack, but what would you recomend as far as performance upgrade for a stock b16a2, well it has a short ram intake on it but i dont know if i would call that a performance upgrade.

for whats it's worth if i remember correctly back around the end of 2000 superstreet did some dyno testing on intakes and the aem cold air was the only one that had a dyno proven increse on both hp and torque, and i think most aem intakes are double walled to keep the air even cooler
