bobonit
I want to understand you correctly, you're spendin 130 on 4 6" areos? One complete 6" Aeroport (17" length) including 2 flares, tube and connecting rings is $38.77 so thats a pretty good price. Bigg Boy
actually, with calculations, a 9.3 cubic feet box, tuned to 33hz would need ~25" of port each if you want to do 4 6" ports.if you want to do 2 6" ports for the box, you would only need ~12" each your math is wrong.... note when i run the 3 of the 4 ports it would be 33hz Quote Dodge Magnum with custom 300c front end, laid out on air bags *4) 12" Cadence Daytona walled *1) AudioQue 20k *270a DC Power Alt (Dual coming soon)
bkolfo4
Slightly off topic.I know for slot ported boxes, it is ~16 sq. in. of port per cu. ft. Is there a rule like that for aero ports? You do not have to have that much area for aeros for daily bumping. You have to experiment to get the best combination if you are going for all out SPL. 16 sq in is just a rule of thumb for slot ports. You really have to look at the overall picture. think about it - Does a 15" sub with just a few mm of excursion getting 300 watts in a 4 ft^3 box need as much port area as a 15" with 3" of excursion getting 4000 watts in the same 4 ft^3 box??? I know people will disagree, but the answer is no. The port size really needs to be sized based on the amount of air that will be moving through it to keep the velocity below a certain level. dtbrown
Here is a build we're finishing up with two 15's and a single 10" aeroport which is about equal to 3 6" aero's. You will do fine with three or even four 6" aero's but three 6" aeros my possibly sound a little better and have more range. Just keep in mind that the down fall with aeroports is with to much port area the box will be loud as hell but won't play very flat for music. So you're on the right track to running 3 for daily and 4 for spl. http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.p...ighlight=xterra
Ram
your math is wrong.... note when i run the 3 of the 4 ports it would be 33hz oh ok, well then for 38hz, and 4 6" ports, you would need ~19" flared ports. or ~18" straight ports yea. go for it. i have 2 6" in my box right now. i like the aeros better. sorry about the confusion. Bigg Boy
Ok here is my last question... Which port arrangements do you guys thing would work the best. I was gonna go with #1, but then one I plug one. it would make them un even loaded on the subs. So I am leaning toward #2, what do you guys think. #1 #2 Quote Dodge Magnum with custom 300c front end, laid out on air bags *4) 12" Cadence Daytona walled *1) AudioQue 20k *270a DC Power Alt (Dual coming soon)
Boon
#1. #2 would give crappy ass loading for SPL compared to #1 IMO. Quote 10.x volts fo' life!
Bigg Boy
So if I did number two, which port would i plug? doesn't really matter does it sense they are all gonna be un even no matter which one. Nightshade
So if I did number two, which port would i plug? doesn't really matter does it sense they are all gonna be un even no matter which one. You would have to test to see which it sounds best with plugged. I would try each one of them and then decide which one to keep plugged once I knew what it was going to sound like.
