This is not to be disrespectful to Steve Meade, he is like a God to me. But I wonder why he hasn`t lost some of his hearing when he plays that loud! Playing music at 150-160 db has to be damaging for the ears, right?

Don`t get me wrong here, I am a true bass junkie and love to play loud and shake things up a little bit, but I don`t want to be deaf in a few years so I wan`t to get some advices about what to do and what not to do and what causes hearing loss and things like that.

Thanks in advance and this is the best audio forum ever! Love it! and I am inspired everyday of watching all of those crazy builds and videos!

we have hearing tests where i work once a year and mine has stayed the same the past 3 years

i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?

There's a thread about this somewhere.. steve said he had his hearing checked and its all G.

I recently had my hearing checked and its actually BETTER than it was 4 years ago :D

I think hearing loss only occurs to the range the high db is played in. Not many natural sounds occur at 32-40 HZ so the only damage would be to the lower end spectrum of hearing. Highs on the other hand fuck your hearing up.

ive wondered this myself. from what i hear, the heavy hitters are losing hearing in the lowend. nyman told me he had a hearing test and it showed that he had GREAT hearing. but they only test higher notes.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.
