HHR Ed
wow, that tuning is low. I would tune it higher if you wanna burp louder. really its 5hz lower than the cabin resonance that you wanna tune to, but your cabin resonance should be higher because its a truck. The reading over a 3hz range really is for consistancy, you really cant tune a box or play anything different to help it. Some cars have sympathetic vibrations that add harmonics in that range, but mostly the sympathetic vibrations cancel the wave rather than reinforce it. If you wanna increase your score, I suggest a higher tuning. CR Boom
My port volume is not optimum(to small), at 36HZ. How much do you think this will hurt me, if it will at all.. EDIT, This should also give me more box rise? CR Boom
Do you guys change your square" of port ,, to the Freq that you are tuned at? Example my box 9.0 tuned at 31htz Should be around 149" of port, then at 36 it should be at 196" of port. This is from carstereo .com port calculator. Team_DC-Derrick
from my understanding, your Sq inch of port is more guided with how big your box is, 9 Cubic feet at 15 sq inch of port per cubic foot is about 135. if your just doing 15. just change the length of your port, if you make them smaller should raise the tuning if im wrong please some one correct me, im still learning on ports Quote The DC Integra 3 18s to 6 15 build log Team_DC-Derrick's Youtube Team DC Audio where theres a will theres a wall....... oldschool
ideally you want 16 square inches of port per cubic ft if you are playing music daily or burping with moderate power however if it is a burp box with 1000s of watts then the rules change. Nightshade
Are you using round or square ports for your box? If you are using round ports you can get away with much less port area than you would with a square port. The round ports cut down on turbulence quite a bit and can help raise efficiency. With a slot port I'd say that your about right on with as much port area as you mentioned in a 9 cube box. If your doing round or flared ports then I'd say that you have too much port area and should knock it down to around 100 sqin. CR Boom
It is a slot port.... So no changing port size when I tune up, I recalculated everything last night, I'am at 31.xxx and want to change to 36, which is shortening my port to 8.xxx""" instead of 17""".. Nightshade
Yeah don't change the port area, just shorten up the port like you already said. What is the exact measurement of your port right now? If you have around 149sqin of port it might be a little too big but only by about 10-20sqin total. If I knew your exact port I could tell you how long you need to make it to tune it to 36hz.
