Thanks for the heads up on the sundown, but unless sundown gives me an amp, I'll still to my "junk" Sound Around Corp. stuff! And also if you are going to put the same subs I am using in a trunk car, the results will not be satifactory unless you have about 2cu.ft. per sub sealed and about 2.5cu.ft. ported. The sub is not an aircompressor, but makes sound. Yes sound can be obtained in a trunk and the cabin gain will be good but the most you could get in a trunk of a cavalier is maybe 6 subs with no room to spare. That would not be good with a sundown. Now, a van or SUV and maybe a backseat deleted wall of 10 for your car, but not a trunk. Also these subs tend to get a little warm around 125watts.rms at a 1.5cu.ft. sealed in an open area like a van. A trunk would be harder on the subs even if you opened the box to 2cu.ft. stuffed. SEALED ENCLOSURE which i plan on doing not ported!!! so i believe 8 of these in my trunk will rip my car apart!!! MEAN PRESSURE!!!
jake1993 Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Today I worked a little! I got all the wiring and grounds together, this is the good. I thought since I have all the wire ran, why not hook up the amp and do some electrical testing before I finish up. So, I grabed the Visonik amp and wired it up,...........with no luck. WHAT? OK, so I think since it powers on with no protection light, maybe the RCA's are cut/pinched or bad. So I take it out and replace with an old pyramid amp.........everything works! OK! Back in with the Visonik,.....nothing:( It worked fine the last time it was used,....the entire 10minutes of it's life 5 years ago! Piss on it! I grabed the Lanzar amp that I have been useing before and wired everything on it.Now this is a classA amp with a fuse rating of 140amp(the model # slips me). If my math is some what good, each sub should see about 50 watts rms! 20 x 50 = 1000watts.(assuming the amp draws close to 140amps at 12 volts) Running it in stereo mode, both sides see a decimal below 1 ohm. The amp is rated 2ohm stereo. The amp holds just fine and pours it's soul out into what seems like an explosion. The CD player(yes I'm old,....no IPOD yet) can not contain it's self,....it skips! All of this from $16.00 subs .....COOL! The best part is that the subs sound great on every note! I drove through Wal-mart tonite and some cart pushers flaged me down and asked what I had in the van. They proceeded to state all the ones in town with the big stuff installs and how my van compares to them. No comparo! What about the second box? What size will it need to be? And the third box? The third will be around 90cu.ft. How will a sub designed for P.A replacement work well in a box .85cu.ft. Something to consider my friend! What will the impedence be in a box that small COFFENED into another box. Make a better sub choice.
