most advanced system i have is a normal xbox, with no live, and ive never played a pirated disk. am i lame?

yes :)

well if they want us to buy legit games... they need to lower the fucking price... 60 bucks for the new forza... im not feeling it

i'll say i modded mine... and proud of it

no offense bro but the world doesnt revolve around your pocket book or your ability to buy a game. Some things just arent for the broke. Not saying your broke, im just saying, if you cant afford it, dont buy it, but why complain? Games have always been 40-60 bucks even since the Atari days. As far as modding, hell ya go for it, even with money in my pocket i like modding just to "beat the system" , but (per this post), do it at your own risk :) Modding has always been risky in one way or another whether you are taking your chances damaging the machine by soldering chips to the board or getting caught online -

I will agree with you on that no doubt. $60 bucks for a game is getting quite rediculous. But its all a matter of greed...you raise the price of a game $10 and say 200k people buy it: Thats an easy 2mill in their pockets. Sad truth is, games are only going to continue to rise in price. Very rarely do you see a price drop on such a well selling item. Because the designers know that people will pay it.

Its not greed, people that make these games have to get paid too. Theres LOTS of shit that goes into making a game , just like making a MOVIE, that you may not realize. Its not like one guy is up there getting rich off your money, there are lots of hands in the cookie jar.

X2. That's why I never got a 360. I'd rather have a second rate, crappy, first gen PS2 (I was one of the first to get one when the old "fat" type came out) and play outdated games then spend money on games I'm probably not gonna like. I haven't seen a new game for the PS2 in forever! But I don't care.

thats generic. PS2 is weak.....again, the new stuff is not for the broke. If all you can afford is a old ass PS2, then no fault there at all, but dont bitch about something being out of your reach. Also, XBL RULES, i have SAVED so much money from NOT buying games i dont like by using this little thing called DOWNLOADING THE DEMO. I would say 75% of the games i was GOING to buy, didnt get bought after trying the demo. Props to XBL for offering that service.

paying 60 bucks for numbers on a disk is redic... i modded mine and got banned and sold it for 400 bucks lmao.. then i bought a rrod for 120

Its not just numbers on a disc. If it is, lets see you make a Xbox or ps3 game. :01nocomment8so:

I've bought alot of consoles growing up.... NES, SNES, N64, SEGA, SEGA DreamCast, PS One, PS2, PS3, WII and Xbox...... ALL games are $60 when they first launch... Its been that way forever. If you don't like the price of games why did you even drop 100's of dollars on the consoles. Makes no sense at all. Besides who said you NEED to buy the game when it first comes out... you can always wait for the price to drop... after a few months prices always drop a bit.

X2...i have owned EVERY SINGLE ONE and usually MULTIPLES (since i have kids) of each one. The prices are about the same as they have ever been. The price has only gone up about 10 bucks a game since PS1 and maybe 15 since SNES. The price on everything you can buy has gone up over the years, so that seems to be pretty normal.

The way I see pirating games:

No matter what, you're paying SOMEONE for the game, whether you realize it or not.

How did you get the game? The internet? You have to pay for that.

What did you download it on? A computer? I bet you paid for that too.

What do you play it on? An Xbox? I'm pretty sure you paid for that.

Wait, I bet you burnt the games too? So, you paid for blank disks as well...

I see no problem in piracy of games, but I think they major problem game companies have is what I said above.

It's not that YOU'RE stealing THEIR money by downloading the games, it more of you paying someone ELSE to get the game (at a much cheaper price in the long run)

eh to me its like everythign else

potsmokers still smoke pot and its illegal

mp3 people still illegal download music

people drink and drive

I burn video games

i paid through atari,nes,snes,genesis,neogeo,ps1,ps2,ps3,lynx,jaguar,dreamcast,saturn...i mean ive had pretty much all the systems at one point in time...to say that a 8bit game of the 80s that was 50 bucks a cartridge is on par with a dvd-dl game is kinda far fetched...if anything i could come up with more reasons why they charge 50-60 now then back then. production of a game has became more akin to something like production of a movie. long gone are the days of 5 nerds sitting in a garage creating a game and publishing it. On games like Modern Warfare too you have upwards of 200 people working on this one game. Multiply that by the salary they will be getting for the 2-5 years most of these games are in developement and thats a decent chunk when you get paid what they get paid. technology used in games nowadays is crazy expensive.....put all that together and a blockbuster like Modern warfare 2 comes out the gates probably with a 100mill price tag if not more...they will probably sell 100 million copys and at 60 or more per copy they will handily make WAY over what they invested into it....

furthermore almost all businesses work this way so its nothing new really....my point of view is they can charge whatever they want imo, but if i buy a machine im going to do whatever i want with it, if you ban me i wont cry about it, i diserved it. Its real hard to ban me though because i hardly EVER play online or ewven have an ethernet cable even plugged in, therefore it really doesnt effect me.

theres really no "good" reason why i do it other then just not wanting to go pay for all the games and find out i like 10 of the 170ish i have.

although i am effectively taking money out of someone elses pocket...im not driving a car killing kids or anyone else for that matter.

i didnt see your post, i guess i posted without looking at page 2 first......but i agree with you and you can see it in my post LOL.

The way I see pirating games:

No matter what, you're paying SOMEONE for the game, whether you realize it or not.

How did you get the game? The internet? You have to pay for that. already have it for other purposes so you cant associate that as a cost

What did you download it on? A computer? I bet you paid for that too. same as above

What do you play it on? An Xbox? I'm pretty sure you paid for that. i have about 50 store bought 360 games so yea i didnt initially plan to just download them

Wait, I bet you burnt the games too? So, you paid for blank disks as well... again i have dual layer disk for other stuff they just happen to work for 360 also so not really associated

I see no problem in piracy of games, but I think they major problem game companies have is what I said above.

It's not that YOU'RE stealing THEIR money by downloading the games, it more of you paying someone ELSE to get the game (at a much cheaper price in the long run)

in essence if you factor in the dual layer dvds you MAY be paying 2 bucks a game because i highly doubt anyones buying all of the above just to pirate 360 games.

lol said pretty much the same as me just in your own way

i was typing again after reading what you said so i agree that you see we agree hahah :D I like your point of view - do what you gotta but dont bitch if you get caught!

if you cant afford it do what you gotta but dont bitch about the price because its pretty much on par with the last 10 systems and inflation - and look what you get for the same money as a game in 1982.

Oh I agree with you james (and everyone else who agrees with James), but when stuff like this happens to you and you know you are doing it then one thing sums it up...illegal is illegal. Don't bitch about them banning you for what you did wrong, just figure out a way to be better than them catching you. =)

50-60 bucks a game seems high, but I don't complain because I don't know the ins and outs of how a game is made, how it cost to make etc etc, so I rent/ play a demo before I buy a game. This way I'm getting a game I'll like or I'll wait to buy it used some where. I am a cheap ass though.

Edit: And yes Steve that is so true about amps...I still remember working as a bagger in a grocery store back in 95 just to buy the Orion 2250 'The Beast'! It was not cheap (to me)

I dont burn games or mod consoles because I don't have the interest in it. I have far too many hobbies that get neglected as is. Plus the need to stay up on top of it to ensure I dont get banned is too much like work. I used to feel the need to get movies and all that before anyone else and have sort of grown out of it. I don't buy much of that stuff anymore at all. nor do I pirate it. I'm getting old fuck.
