I see in your sig you don't have a system... I know mine got me my first job in car audio years back :) So that might be something you want to work on...

Theres a possibility that my Aunt can convince my uncle JR to hook me up with some of his old equipment that is just sitting around his house.

cool thing about Jr, he's been doing audio since before I was even thought of, he's seriously been in the game since car subwoofers started, so you can guess over the years he has got some stuff stacked up around there, he's a packrat when it comes to audio.

and knowing my aunt, she might be able to get me what he was running last before he got his custom built audiopipes (they look like the old TXX subwoofers, but they are GREEN and have a mag thats like 10" around and like 1" slugs double stacked, i've never seen anything like em), which, his last system was 2 Eclipse Titanium 15" subwoofers that he bought in like 06, so im thinking they probably are the 4" coil model, which should do me some good, cant remember what amp he had on em, but knowing Jr I might get a big amp, even if he just gives me the Ti's I could probably get an amp for em.

Or I might just sell em off (on SMD of course, I know there is bound to be someone who would want these Ti Pros) and put some random Fi 18 in here since the people at Audiospecialists like worship the Fi subwoofers.

I dunno, im not gonna go talking about the Tis cus I dont even know if i'll get them, or if I'll even get anything from him, so we'll put that off for later.

all that matters is I need something that is not flashy, high output, low cost, something that LOVES big boxes. thoughts?

-oh, and a new HU and some speakers that dont suck. and possibly a new muffler and tint job (previous owners tint is smudging in the back, if you know how to get tint off a window without damaging the heating stuff, let me know!!!)-

dude i saw you have a i need this job and im willing to work for it attitude and that is exactly what you need to show the shop owner or the head installer make sure that they know that you are willing to do the "bitch work" untill you have shown them you know how to do it their way. the main things that i would put on a resume is how many installs you have done and pics of said installs and how you run wires and no skimping and make sure your vehicle install is clean because when i was hired the lead installer came out to my vehicle and looked at my install. also if they say that you do it wrong just bite your tonge till you have been there long enough to have there respect also if you don't know how to do remote starts/security systems you might want to learn now! and never suggest crimp connections unless they tell you thats how they do it always tell them you solder all connections that was a big deal to our shop owner one last comment don't be cocky and act like you are as good as their installers a friend of mine applied at the same time as me but didn't get a job till later because he was cocky.

alright stop jumpin on the bandwagon of "you going to be the bitch" i think he gets it!!

I suppose I can throw up a YT video since I dont know how to take pics with my web cam :D

Folks, I plan on going into Audiospecialists tomorrow, how exactly do I give them this paper? what can I say to get to the right guy? and who do I need to ask for?

like, tell me what to say my first 3 lines, what ever will work, this is what im bad at folks, I cant think of a proper way to say "hey, I have this letter of interest, i'd love to work at your shop, even if im sweeping the floors I want to learn more than I do about audio, I have a basic knowledge of car electronics, I know how to install remote starts <hooray for google and youtube, you can learn anything you want :D >, I really need a job so I can help support my uncle so he doesnt die in the next 3 weeks"

please folks, im begging you, help me say the right words to actually get interest x.x

If you are looking to make decent money, I suggest looking at another industry.

There is very little money in Car Audio installation anymore.

Maybe work there temporarily while you put yourself through school, I would suggest becoming a mechanic, especially Diesel Mechanics.

Much better job security and pay.

now I have one more question (That I can think of tonight, which means there could be more without me breaking my word, new years resolution, I will never break my word)

How do I present my self when I go in there?

do I say "Hey, I want to talk to the manager about something"

"Hey, I want to put this job app in"

like, what do I say? I've seriously never tried to get a job at a shop like this before... or for that matter, ever HAD a job. (which is kind of a problem. if yall really want to know why I need this job so bad, my Uncle John has cancer again, the pills he's on right now cost 32 thousand dollars a month, If he stops getting the pills he'll die, I dont want to live life knowing I couldnt help him, I mean how do I live with that knowing I left an opertunity to do something im good at to help him stay alive, understand where im coming from guys?)

I have actually had people come in the shop where I work and say "What's up? Y'all ain't hiring are you?" What else could I say but "No we aint hiring."

God damn its hot today. My balls are stuck to my leg.

ya know what? im gonna take a shower, brush my teeth, shave, when I come back I'd love to see some lines of what to say.

Cus I dunno if saying "Are you hiring? I need a job really bad" will get me in.

Ok, I'm gonna be a gigantic arsehole here. I'm just being realistic, so shoot me.

How many installs have you actually done?

Shops don't care about quarter wave, CAD, reconing, that kind of thing. They care about cookie-cutter headunit installs, alarm installs, remote starts, headrest TVs. That's where the money is. How many of them have you done?

In 2 years at this shop I think I've done (for customers) 1 horn and I think 3 SPL boxes. Total. And that's because this shop is known as the go-to place for crazy boxes. There's NO demand for that kind of thing. And to be brutally honest, when someone comes in and wants an exotic build, you're not gonna be working on it. Even if you get a job there you're probably gonna be the shop bitch for a long time. I hope you know how to handle a broom and order coffee.

I'm not saying you can't get a job at a shop when you're young. I was working on show cars when I was 19 but shit man, not to boast but I had a SHITLOAD more experience than you already.

From the second you walk in to that shop you're gonna be learning. Fast. In a shop you work to a convention, everyone does everything the same. If a car you did comes back for any reason and the other installers can't understand your install because you didn't work to the shop's conventions, you're gonna be down the road pretty fast.

And I'm gonna really be a shitbag here and say that you need to look back through some of your early threads on here. You take VERY badly to any criticism and don't seem to like being told to do things differently. Look at the RE MT thread, do you remember that? Remember trying to tell me about the internal thermal fuses on your amps? Don't make me go dig it up. You're gonna have to COMPLETELY drop that attitude if you wanna work at a shop. You do it the way the boss says, the way the shop does it, even if you think it's not the way you would do it. Unless you've been installing a long long time (which you haven't) don't make suggestions unless you're asked for them, you'll just piss people off.

Are you sure you're ready to work as an installer? Remember that if you fuck a trim panel up on a 2010 Corvette it's probably coming out of your pay packet.

I don't wanna be a downer but dude, I haven't seen anything you've posted on here that remotely suggests that you're ready to go work at a shop.

Hey man really listen to boon he knows his shit. Another thing (not trying to be a dick) dont ASSUME you can just ace the mecp test even the basic exam that kinda thinking leads to failure. The test is not very difficult, but it can be tricky the way its worded. I know a couple guys on here whom work in shops and they also are very skilled installers especially when it comes to hu, alarms, remote starters, ect. It takes a lot more than just a basics installs before your shop-ready imo. Anyway good luck

wow you just need to calm down and take a second and think about everything, you have allready had a few good lines, like hello can i speak to one of the managers, and then just tell him how you have been doing installs for however long, then just let him know what you have never been in a shop but that you would love to get into a shop just to learn and try to help out as much as possible, just let them know that you are willing to work and work hard to do w/e they need, you shouldnt need a script just go in and talk to them because the worst thing they could say is that they are not hiring which would prob be the case unless they are not being hurt by the recession right now
