Big Als Hifonics 20kw 24 woofer install..

Ok guys had a measure up i have 20 cuft for rear cab sealed and 45 cuft for front cab ported side plan is to start with a 53hz port which rear chamber tunning is,then make a 38hz port which looks fantastic on plots ,if im honest id say maybe its a bit of a risk has i know what a trusted ported box will do,but i do like to be a bit different and there is more than a few installs that are out there at the moment that are doing fantastic with 4th order bandpass.what do you guys think??

I don't think I could bring myself to take a sawzall to what is in there now, its so gorgeous. But 4th orders are super efficient and people are really starting to figure them out, why a 2:1 ration instead of a 3:1? I see much more success as 4th orders approach the 3:1 ratio. I would send a few PMs to SSAudio, hes the master of all things bandpass.

Ive gone for 2.1 ratio because that leaves 0.83 cuft a woofer any smaller id guess then tunning will be too high and i wont get too much low frequency extension?? thats how i understand? i may be wrong if i went any smaller on rear seal box wont that limit how low it plays?If a 2.1 ratio is no good maybe a sealed bandpass may not b the best then! either way i have to use all 24 woofers

I guess I didn't consider you keeping all 24 woofers. Even at a 2:1 ratio .83 cu ft per woofer is awfully small. I think with all the work already put it, and the amount of work and cost to do the bandpass. The numbers just aren't promising enough for me to tear it out. You can try it, and I will definitely watch, but I wouldn't do it. Not without sacrificing some woofers or finding more space.

EDIT: Then again, its still 20cuft of sealed airspace together. That is a tough call! I still say send a PM to SSAudio and see what he thinks. That is a lot of time and money tied up into a design with the potential of failure. Cancellation is a big problem with band-passes and you have a lot of woofers to deal with.

Cheers buddy thats helped a lot ,i have run the olm 2412 through bbp6 and it recomended 18.75 cuft on the sealed side with a qtc 0.707 flat alignment which gives a nice curve ,which then leaves me 45cuft on front chamber,i know the added cone area will play lower,i wanted to change the baffle after we change woofers ,i just was not happy with making spacers to make woofers fit ,it just dont have that finished look.
