New sub arrived. Need help

Recommended Posts

I received my 12” Level 3 and was super excited when I opened it up. It is an amazing looking sub. However, once I pulled it out of the box, I saw that the braided wires (tinsel leads??) that connect to the terminals were disconnected on both sides (both terminals). Is this normal? And if so, is it something I can fix.

No, that's not normal.

It looks like someone forgot to solder the tinsels in. I'd contact DC to see how they want you to handle it. It is fairly easy to do yourself if you have a solder gun. Maybe someone on here lives near you and can do it for you easier than sending the speaker back.

easy fix man. send it back to rusty, or fix it yourself...

shove the tinsels through the small holes in the tabs, then solder them....take you all of 10 minutes :)

As is or do I need to strip them? Dumb questions I know, but having never worked with on a braided wire like that, I dont want to mess anyting up. I've soldered plenty before so I think I'll do it myself if thats all it is.

O_o wow, Did you buy it new? if so it lookz like one of the guyz at DC didn't solder the lead on.

Simple mistake, it just got by them in inspection.

Just solder it on if your good with a soldering iron.

Edit: Dang!! are yall ninjas up there? posted the answer before i could.

no stripping just put them through the hole and solder them in place. I just reconed my lvl 5 and had to do it for my first time..Simplest part of the recone.

Like everyone said, someone probally was busy and forgot to do the last part (Solder)
