OK I need full layout here. Do not understand- first you say one of them sounds bad, then you say BOTH of them sound bad. WHICH is it?

If they BOTH sound bad hooked to your amp, I believe your issue is a bad ground on your head unit OR amp (but probably your head unit). When your head unit is not grounded properly, it pulls ground up thru your rca cables. If both of your subs sound bad, don't play it anymore, you are about to damage some equipment.

You need to isolate your problem so you don't damage your equipment. So we now know that your subs are fine. Now we need to isolate your headunit and your amplifier.

Do you have ANY sort of portable music player that has a headphone jack? You can use that with a 3.5mm jack to rca adapter and hook right up to your amp. If the subs play fine, then the problem is NOT with your amplifier. If they still sound like crap, then the problem IS with either your amplifier or its electrical connections.

If they play ok on your amplifier in the previous test, now its time to isolate your rca's from your headunit. Get a cheap pair of rca's from radio shack or something. Disconnect your rca's from your headunit and your amplifer and take this cheap pair you just bought and hook it up to your deck and your amplifier. Just run it over the seats, we are just testing here no need to make it pretty. If your subs sound fine, you have BAD RCA's. If it still sounds like crap, you have a problem with your headunit or your headunits wiring.

I don't see how one would sound bad and the other wouldn't if it were something farther up the line. The amp is a mono amp, so both subs are getting the exact same signal.

The lack of straight information is how.

jl said they will fix both of them because the other was doing the same thing free at no charge, but if they see that i abused it (i haven't) i will be charged for both of them , i dont know what they mean abused all i did was hooked up both of them when i got my other one in, and they both distorted, took it it to local audio shop, they said its blown but it still plays, just doesnt play great at high volumes.

i think you should take your car to a professional shop and have them look at it ad figure out the problem for you because it sounds like you have absolutely no idea what your doing

Agreed. You are about to permanently damage some equipment. I know the issue is with one of your grounds, but don't know which one.

If one plays fine and the other doesnt when both are hooked up at the same time its not grounds and its not farther up the line.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.
