Alex K
Tried doing a search, but nothing came up. Could anyone give me a general idea on how you hook up another battery in the trunk? I'm not too sure on how to go about doing this. I know i have a pos duralast in the front, but I'm getting a Kenetik hc2000 tomorrow and would like to know how to hook that sucker up correctly. I've heard about isolators, but I don't know if ones necessary or not. Also if anyone has a diagram or some sort of picture, that would help a ton. From reading things on google, I know I want to ditch the wetcell duralast and get a yellowtop for the front, correct? Then run a power wire from the pos (+) of the yellow, to the pos (+) of the Hc2000. Then simply ground the HC2000 in the trunk to the chassis, and fuse the power wire (0 gauge) from both ends within 18" of both batteries (or just 1 fuse?) with a 200A fuse. I will install this along with an 180A alt from Iraggi. 2006 Nissan Z Track. My Feedback Thread i used to think a band pass was something you were around your neck or something. OrionStang
Yes, positive of front batt to pos of rear batt. You could ground the rear batt to the frame or runa ground from the front batt to the rear one, you'll find arguments for both. Fuse both ends of the positive wire. Neo_frog
What you wrote is mostly correct. Yellow tops are good starting batteries, but they are nearly useless for car audio (using them solely for storage) unless you have a group 31 yellow top. You will be fine using it in conjunction with the Kinetik. I suggest making plans to replace it with a Kinetik (or Powermaster) down the road since you are using a decent size amp. Fusing is always a good idea on both sides since you could potentially short in the middle some day. I recommend also running a negative throughout so you have a consistent and guaranteed path of flow. If that's not an option, grounding to the frame will be sufficient. Need an install? Gotloud555
- post battery to rear - post battery + post battery / fuse beside it to rear + post battery with fuse beside it or you can ground the rear battery post to the chassis if you don't want to run it to the front. I did add another fuse to the amp at the rear + battery post. There alots of thread on running second battery.. Just search..
Alex K
So can I just keep my duralast in the front? + from that to + of kenetik, and ground the kinetik in the trunk? 2006 Nissan Z Track. cqtama
yes that will work. i believe running another neg. from front to back will be a little more efficient but not by much as long as you have a strong ground in the back. but like they said you're gunna want to replace the bat. up front eventually but its not necasary right now.
