I definitely think it's a 50/50 deal. Not to offend anyone, but I think it's stupid having a really crappy car and putting a huge sum of money for sound inside it. To the point where the car is at risk of breaking down but you're still bumpin at the stop lights. (well I see a lot of younger kids doing that here and it annoys me..i laugh at them...)

I, for one, am a student with barely any cash. I do all my car work myself, I built retrofit headlights, do some custom audio, lighting, dropped my car by myself...save tons of money. But I believe it's gotta balance out somehow. For me, I'd rather have a nice looking car with a nice system (as opposed to a crappier car with a crazy suystem). I might not be hitting the 140's or 150's, but it's a real nice looking daily driver that everyone can appreciate, and the system hits hard. I can always upgrade when I have more money anyways. But the rims look good, drop looks good, headlights look good...I just like a clean car with a clean system.

Now this is only an opinion, so by no means do I want to 'offend' anyone. Just tellin you all what's on my mind.

personally i like the low key aspect, i drive a 99 contour with dents all over it, but pop the trunk and ive got a 12" mayhem. i love rolling into a group pounding and having people look around going wtf lol.

Steve you make a good point. Shiny things don't mean clean There truly are a lot of different aspects to clean. I mean my car has a custom satin paint job (with orange peel) but I did it myself so I'm proud of it. I consider it Clean compared to my Avatar .

My cars are actual extensions of me. All of my vehicles have names, attitudes, stay clean and I could never have a system with a shitty appearance.

I usually work on the show aspect before upgrading my sound system. I'll do head units and components, but subs, glassing, and custom work wait until the outside sits pretty as shit.

Amen... I believe that how clean u keep ur ride reflects on the individual also... But, I don't think that way about cars that are old/primered or whatever... just the overall cleanliness of the car... I have seen some pure shit box cars that I would rather drive than some nice new ones that are just pure nasty with food and garbage all in it....
