I am building a set up on a Dodge Durango and I thought about placing the amplifier in the small compartment in the rear (like a small trunk in the very rear). The compartment has a lid and it completely shuts and will be lack of ventilation. Know my question is will it get too hot in there enough for the amp to go into protection? This will not be competition but it may have a usual loud play times. I thought about creating some chambers and and using fans to evacuate some air and inject some air in there.... not sure if it will be worth the work. Any help will be welcomed.

Yes I thought about it the problem is that i forgot to mention that there is the windshield liquid reservoir so.... i have to move it because the owner does not want me to take it out!! i guess is better safe than sorry..... i will follow your suggestions.. thanks
P4killer_ Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 Yes just use one of one 4 or 5 pin 12v relays, hook up ur fans like they said above, and youll be golden if the "cabinet" you putting it in is carpetted id prolly try and mount the amp on a piece of mdf instead of directly on the floor, well shoot no matter what kinda floor it is id mount it. but carpet kinda insulates heat, so whenever possible i like to avoid putting anything electronic in carpet mounting situations ie:. ppl put thier x360's and Ps3 on thier living room carpet, and lough and behold eventually it starts over heating.. santo Posted October 16, 2010 Author Report Posted October 16, 2010 put it under the seat or in the side compartments in back Actually since its a 15.. the box kinda takes most space in the back. the only space i actually have is underneath the box (2 inches) or inside that compartment like i mentioned. the owner thinks inside would be safer and there is where i plan to put it.
big dee Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 i would try to put it under the box if theres room and put some fans on it like these guys are saying. and it should be fine. but dont let it touch the box or it could vibrate the amp and cause probs. what amp are you useing? you might want to tune the amp later down the road so keep that in mind when you mount it . in the compartment might make it tough to get to. look at steves build . the way he did his amps under the box works nicely imo. and if you can get it udner the box you wont have to move the washer resevor. moveing that might be a job
