Some people amaze me with the stories they come up with over dinner. due to him be in the military he hears alot? lmao and if im not correct he can put the price of gas up? Gasoline is a product just like a pack of gum. The price is set by the companies that own the gas based on the value of crude oil. The TAX we pay on gas is applied by the state and the federal government. This tax is the only thing that could be changed by the government. And the money that the two auto companies borrowed has been paid back to the government with interest. So thats not a valid reason to say the price would go up. And the top 5 states with the highest tax have a democrat either as governor or majority of senators. Like I stated before they want to take more so u can just be dependent on the gov Maybe because they know the country is near broke and raising taxes is the only way to pay back the defecit? Which still has nothing to do with the price of gas jumping 60%?
Martor Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 I wish I lived in the states. In Sweden we pay ~6,9USD per gallon if I made my calculations right. It would be sooo much cheaper. We pay 13kr (SEK) per 1 litre. 1 gallon = 3,785litre. 1 gallon = 49,2kr (SEK). 49,2kr (SEK) = 6,92USD

Fuel prices touch everything and this talk about a president adding some insane tax to fuel is just nonsense. I wouldn't doubt there were talks about an increase in tax, but you would never see anything this drastic. The best way to get people in hybrids or diesels is to offer tax incentives. Also note that that push to get people in hybrids do nothing to change semi's, boats, ships, lawnmowers, snowblowers, trimmers, atv's, and the like. Thinking only about the vehicles we drive is narrow minded.
