Robert8252 Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 4th order sealed forward if you're ok to lose your trunk for a huge box. Or just try sealing the 15s forward. I'm doing low 40s with one 12 on 2k ported so two 15s sealed in the same power should be able to do the same and probably sound better doing it having a flatter response curve. 2013 F150 Crew Cab Old Build Log Feedback 2013 F150 Equipment - Some Awesome Stereo Sound Making Stuff
doug118 Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 aren't 4th orders just a sealed box stuffed into a ported box? so technically if you insert your sealed box into a ported box, you can get really loud 2001 Tahoe. slow240sx Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 About 10 years ago I had 2 round solobaric 15's sealed, forward firing, completely sealed from trunk. 2 fosgate 1000 watt amps and it would do a 147 on the old meters. Sounded good to me and was pretty loud. Was in an old maxima. Ported usually gets louder if subs were designed for it. I usually only build ported boxes now cause they seem to hit the lows harder, but that old setup won me about 10 first place trophys @ local comps bout 10 years ago 99 GMC Suburban 2 Death Penalty 21" 2 Crescendo BC2000 Boston GT-42 Amp 6 Selenium 6w4p 4 Crescendo tweets Hi output cs144 alt Audiocontrol Epic-160 Pioneer DVD head unit

Lumpydonut Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 1 RF T1 12 in a prefab sealed box did like 90s on ~500 watts so yes sealed can get loud. I'm in the process of buildin a box and getting everything hooked up. I have two T1 12s and a RF 1500.1 then once that's all done I'll find a TL instead of my little radioshack meter 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Pioneer DEH5100-UB 2 - P1S412 4 - Alpine SRS-600 Alpine MRP-M500 Monster 8g power/ground-1/0 Big 3 Soon to come: 2 - T1D212 RF T1500.1bdCP RF T500.4bd Mechman 220 amp alt Kinetik KHC1800 Hit me up if you need help with anything in the Tulsa Area.
tacomabanga1986 Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 sealed does get loud but different cars work different ways with it like my old setup in my honda was 2 mtx 4500 1544 ran from a mtx 500d in a sealed box fireing in the trunk with back seat down and my buddy with 4 mtx 8500 1504's and 2 mtx 1501ds said my setup sounded better than his did with alot less equipment im not bragging on my setup but it sounded killer and i got 2 noise ordnance tickets with it and it useto set off car alarms and what knot lol but in my geo, a ported box fireing forward sounded better and louder to ear than any other option i could come up with for that car and with my truck, sealed downfire was acually louder and cleaner than with 2 ported boxs in any other config i could put them in so it all depends on the car and what ur trying to accomplish with the setup u have but with sealed boxs, the deeper the box tends the lower it will play or thats the experence ive had with sealed boxs now a guy around here has a monti carlo on 26's with 2 l7 12's in one of those kicker boxs fireing twards the rear seat with a ported rear deck and it sounded like it had 2 15's in the back or more lol i think whats his name with the lexus and hella cone area is running a sealed box but im not sure, i think neill barber said his new setup with the sound streams where sealed but it looks ported tho what does ur system consist of atm? here's a link to my system 99 toyota tacoma , 2 mtx 8000 1504's in a sealed downfire , 1000w memphis amp here's a link to my other system my 90 geo prizm test car heres a thread i got of new songs u can dl that are legal = Some Good Bangage/you Can Dl These Free And Legit
