a few months back, one of my youtube buddies got his shit stolen and when i saw the video it really bothered me to see someone go through what i have gone through a few times in my life. Getting your car broken into, even if they just rifled through your glove box and took nothing, is a terrible feeling.....but losing an entire system is the worst. So i thought about it for a while, what can i do to help this guy. I made a few phone calls and arranged getting him at least some of his stuff back. He was running JL Audio but i don't know anyone at JL so i called my boys at Rockford. Now keep in mind, RF didn't give me anything but they did give me a nice discount. In other words, nothing you see in this video was free (on my end). I paid a decent chunk (not to mention shipping). Why would i do that for someone i only know on youtube? I guess you can call it paying it forward. Actually, its just me being me - but i have to say, when i got my shit stolen out of my honda (like 7 years ago) and David from RE Audio (now PSI) sent me 2 brand new MT 18's, i never forgot that. I think about that all the time. I still have those and i will probably never get rid of them because they are special. So shots out to some of the people who have helped me and in turn, i ALWAYS help others when i can, because of people like that. Anyhow, thats just the short story of why i would do something like this. i can't wait to see it all installed, but he did say it might take a few months first. It don't matter, he has the gear and he can move on now

Sorry, but this statement really annoys me. You say a competitor doesn't care what an amp does at 2, 4, or 8 ohms...but what it would do at X where X is the impedance after rise. You mean...like if it at a given frequency it rises to 2 ohms? 4 ohms? 8ohms? So you just contradict yourself. Let alone to assume people won't care what an amp does at 1 ohm is just so naive. How many competitors wire down to FRACTIONS of an ohm to get the power and juice out?

i think i will probably just drop a new motor in it. We have a place called Attarco here that sells Japanese motors for older cars like this. Problem is, i have NO clue what kind of motor it takes. I could put it in myself, but i don't want to. Probably pay someone to do it who could use some cash. Any local takers?

I should have pre-ordering up soon on them. They will be $210 MAP price -- and the same box as the SA-8 v.2 works well; at about 0.75 cubes. We tested up to 1 cube (in the videos) but you do reduce mechanical handling.

He was the messenger, no doubt. If D'Amore hadn't gone to such lengths to show why this method delivers inaccurate results, I also would agree that people wouldn't care. But he has, and it's now our job as super enthusiasts to spread the word. This isn't about selling amp dynos - it's about educating ourselves about what's right and what isn't. Once you've accepted that, then it's up to you whether collecting such data is important to you. This argument is really similar to the Butt Dyno vs. the Chassis Dyno . . . I think the topic of "clamping" is just one of many that illustrates that we as an industry have much yet to learn and that in many cases we are hesitant to do so. Learning begins with getting an excellent education in high school and taking advantage of all that is in front of you. ANY car audio enthusiast should go out of their way to make math and science their strong suits. Not only will that provide them with a strong foundation to build off of as they build sick car audio systems, it'll also open the door for an excellent future. Spread the word guys . . . spread the word. When you hear someone use the word "clamping," help them to understand why it isn't the right way to obtain the data they're looking for. After all, you're now educated.
